ebonlock: (Bollocks!)
Home sick again, while I managed to get some productive coughing done thanks to the Mucinex (hey, it actually works, go figure), the fever, lightheadedness and slight nausea made the very idea of working seem almost laughable. I rubbed my face this morning and realized my sinuses are hurting too, joy. But I've got some flu meds, more Mucinex, buttloads of water and Gatorade, soup and yogurt so I'm well supplied at least until the fever breaks and I become fully functional again.

I will say I have some decidedly odd fever dreams. Really mundane stuff, like every day actions only just a little off kilter. Every time I woke up with a coughing fit I was just deeply puzzled.

In other news, you know how I said Hachi was a klepto? This morning I found the necklace I'd taken off Saturday night and left on the bathroom counter in the living room. The pendant in one area and the chain in another. I think the top of my dresser is about the only safe place to leave things any more.

Also on the Hachi front I've seen no signs of live worms for the past few days and she's let me clean her butt to be sure so the second dose of meds may have done the trick. Won't know for sure until it wears off, though. She and Kage have spent the past few days huddled around me on the couch. Every time I get up to go somewhere Hachis' right at my feet. I think she's going to be very sad when my health gets back to normal.

And finally I had to take out the litter this morning and I noticed some footprints on the deck in the copious pollen. Looks like I've been visited by a rather large raccoon. This bodes ill for trying to grow any veggies or fruits this season. I'm also going to have to be very careful about the trash. Good to know.

So the little cold I figured I'd come down with has turned into a sinus/tonsil infection of truly epic proportions. I could still talk yesterday (kinda) but not so much today. At least I can still swallow, so that's something. I've got a physical coming up in a week and a half so if it's still bad by then I'm sure the doc will put me on antibiotics. *sigh*

In the meantime I've been lying around the house getting a whole lot of nothing accomplished which makes me crazy. I also missed out on Vikashni's free two hour workshop today which makes me incredibly sad. I'd been looking forward to going over that punjabi piece again.

On the plus side it has given me some time to catch up on my reading and Aelf's copy of "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" has, happily, been completed. I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". I thought the melding of the two genres just worked much better, and the entire steam-punk aspect (including personal submarines, diving suits and the delightful Sub Station Beta) gets a couple of big thumbs up from me. The premise is pretty simple, an unknown event simply known as "The Alteration" has caused sea creatures to mutate and set their beady, bloodthirsty eyes on humanity. Throw in bloodthirsty pirates, kidnapped island princesses, vicious sea witches and dastardly curses and you've got yourself one helluva read. It gets two big thumbs up from me.

Feeling marginally better today, though weak and tired and shaky. You know, the usual when you've got a virus. But the Gatorade's staying put so far and with any luck I can stave off the worst of the dehydration. As I've said many times a virus is a damned efficient way to lose weight but not one I'd particularly recommend. :P

PS- forgot to mention that one of the surest ways of knowing I'm ill is that my sleep pattern goes straight to hell. I get vicious insomnia and what little sleep I do get is plagued by stress dreams, I had some real deusies last night. I'd try drugging myself into unconsciousness tonight but I've got a dermatology appointment in the morning so that'll have to wait until tomorrow night I'm afraid :(

Woke up with a fever and nausea today so I called in. But I refuse to believe I've caught any of the bugs going around right now. I absolutely refuse. I'm drinking all the Gatorade I can keep down and getting lots of rest so hopefully this, whatever it is, will pass quickly.

Hopefully

Don't know how I managed it but I've caught some sort of intestinal bug of the "Everybody Out!" variety. Fortunately I've got tons of Gatorade on hand so no worries there. If I can stop running to the bathroom for more than a few minutes at a time I'll do my best to catch up on emails, and I know I owe [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain several responses including feedback on your latest wonderful mix! Will get to it soon, promise!
