ebonlockSo I finally got around to listening to some of the Dr. Who audiobooks I downloaded ages ago and man they were amazing! "The Future Trap" is read by Catherine Tate and she does an amazing job with the voices, especially David Tennant, though you haven't lived until you've heard her do a Doctor/Donna argument single handedly. Absolutely stunning work on a damned good story I could easily see as an episode. "Pest Control" was almost as good and read by David Tennant who did a disturbingly good Donna as well, and reads most of the story with his own charming Scottish accent. Second awesomeness of the week is that this season of True Blood just keeps getting better. I must babble a bit so...
First I have no idea what the hell is going on with Sam's family but OMG I can't wait to find out. That weirdness with drunken dad showing up and the significant look between him and Tommy. Gah, it's killing me!
Ok is it just me or is Franklin the real world version of Edward Cullins? I mean the creepy obsession/stalking though at least I can understand the attraction with Tara. His summary that she's "as fucked up" as he is makes sense and he's at least somewhat charming in his own utterly screwy way. The scene where Tara says, "Baby, we need to talk." and he demurs with, "A woman says that to me and next thing you know I black out and wake up in a hotel room full of blood and body parts." If anybody was going to get kidnapped by a psycho vamp, though, it's probably best that it was Tara, she's smart and survivor. Can't wait to see how she gets out of being turned.
Um, ok the King of Mississippi really needs to get staked but is it wrong of me that I hope his consort Talbot comes out ok? Also Alcide, the big hunk of werewolf flesh tasked with keeping Sookie's dumb ass alive has grown on me quite a bit. Most of the werewolves do nothing for me, though thank you show for just making them be wolves with cool eyes and not going for CGI or rubber suits *gives Being Human a significant look*, but I do kinda like him. And I'd like to find out more about their culture. I will admit, reluctantly, that I squealed, "Bill!" just like a little girl when we heard him rasp, "Sookie!" from Alcide's living room at the end of the ep. I don't even like the guy but dammit the two of them do belong together and I was just fangirl enough to be thrilled when they embraced just before all hell broke loose.
I'm reasonably sure both Eric and Bill are going to get out of their connundrum by blaming the whole "V trafficking" thing on HRH, possibly with the corroboration of the weres and Sookie (after all Russell was seen sharing his blood and has obviously kept a pack under his control for many centuries) but will Eric be satisfied with that? Especially now that he knows Russell was responsible for killing his dad the viking king. Tough call that one.
Oh and how charming was it that the male nurse from the psychiatric hospital Lafayette's mom is in came all the way to Bon Temps to date him? I'm sure he's going to turn out to be some supernatural baddie or get killed by one, but my god their flirting is undeniably cute. Here's hoping we get some hot boy on boy action that doesn't turn out to be a big tease *gives significant look to Bill and Sam*.
Is Tommy interested in Jessica? He knows she's a vampire but does she know he's a shapeshifter?
And finally what is up with Jason's new girl? Clearly she's not what she seems, so what the hell is she?
Part of me thinks I should just read the rest of the books but the rest is happy to wait and see what happens in the series. The show's so much better than the original novel series anyway.
