I had the loveliest birthday weekend in great part due to [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain and [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene who came over to spend the evening with me. We had burritos for supper while we watched "Fido" which was so superb I went ahead and added it to my Amazon shopping cart. As soon as I get my latest $25 gift certificate it's *mine*. If I had to sum the movie up I'd say, "Imagine that instead of the Cold War in the 50's Earth had been exposed to weird space radiation that turned the dead into flesh eating zombies. Picture 'Leave it to Beaver' with zombies." Seriously this film had us all howling with laughter and by the end saying we couldn't believe we were actually thinking this, but it was a feel good zombie flick. Oh and the soundtrack kicked ass! Expect me to pimp this film to everyone at every opportunity. Indeed I may try to convince [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano to watch it instead of SG-1 tonight :)

I managed to score just under $200 in charitable donations which makes me so incredibly happy I can't even tell you. In addition I've got some lovely new jewelery and books, books, books from my sisters, in addition to the game Okami (interestingly different on the PS2 than the Wii, but every bit as pretty as I remembered). [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain actually made me the coolest stuff, including a furry 4-eyed octopus named Ernie and the Camberwick Green versions of Sam and Gene from LoM. I'll take pictures and post them, promise! Oh and she found my new favorite herbal tea which I made a cup of for all of us while we watched "Pitch Black" later on that evening. We also had Aelf's magnificent low sugar/low fat key lime pie. It was her first time making it and all I can say is "Yum!"

But the even bigger news today is that I will (at least for the next month or so) once again be a minion of His Lordship [livejournal.com profile] forkmonkey! An actual honest to gods job! I should be starting on Wednesday and I'm feeling very excited. It's going to be a lot of work, but interesting work with a company doing something actually important and fascinating. It's a great opportunity and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Should be starting Wednesday-ish. All I can say is YAY!

Wait a minute, you'll only be working for a month, or you'll only be his minion for a month? I am confused. But then again, the sun *did* rise today....

Ah, got it now. *does a happy dance in her chair*

Oh, and if you take pics of Ernie, can we show them to the author?

Yay!
He's a tough, but fair, taskmaster. And thankfully, he already knows you and trusts that you can be given a task and do it, which sidesteps a lot of the initial annoying feeling-out stage of a new job. (And you know he's not a flaming moron that will ask you to do stuff that's pointless, too.)

And income, sweet sweet income!

Indeed, I couldn't be happier with the way everything's worked out and I very much look forward to minioning for the great FM again ;)

Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you had a good time. And the Sam and Gene dolls turned out *excellent*. They look even better with eyes. ;)

Congrats on the the gig! I hope you get a permanent one you like soon, too. =)

FYI, they've blocked LJ at work as of today.

If I recall, there's some email address I can post to, but I won't be able to read my friendspage at all.

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful birthday weekend and managed to raise so much money for your charity! Unfortunately, I didn't manage to make a donation in time for your birthday, but I'll try to donate soon. Many happy (and belated) returns! :-)
