ebonlockI'm attempting to keep a positive and upbeat outlook today despite the fact that I've had not so much as a nibble in regards to my resume yet. No emails, no phone calls, no interviews, nothing. Nor will I take it as a bad sign that two of my minions are either already employed elsewhere or close to it. Given that I'm still officially employed at the moment I figure I can stave off a panic attack for at least a week or two more. After that all bets are off.
In the meantime, when I'm not feverishly job hunting, I'm still reading fanfic at an alarming rate. Is it my fault I've got 3 years of excellent SGA fic to catch up on? No, no it isn't. Well, ok maybe a little, but the point is there's so much good stuff to read out there that even my willpower is strained to the breaking point. And today I stumble upon an AU basically re-writing "The Mummy" with John as Brendan Fraser's character, Jeannie and Rodney as the brother and sister team, etc. Although I'm quite certain in this version John's going to get the boy, not the girl...or at least he'd damned well better.
I tell myself that as addictions go this one's not that bad. I mean I could be turning to booze or pills or something, right? At least with fanfic all I'm likely to ruin are my eyes and my last visit to the optometrist assured me that I'm nowhere near doing that.

Don't worry too much. The right opportunity will present itself.
