It would be really, really nice if our engineers would quit breaking things.

*sigh*

Anyway on the plus side our traffic is improving daily right now and I'm taking that as a very good sign...even if I'm not quite sure where it's coming from at the moment.

On a personal note I continue to battle insomnia, which I'm convinced has some sort of physical root cause. My whole body feels off right now and I'm retaining water at least a week earlier than I should be on my normal schedule. Even my body chemistry is off and none of my scented lotions smell quite right on me at the moment. This, whatever it is, seems to be pretty cyclical, I'll feel crappy for a couple of weeks and then it'll just as mysteriously resolve itself and I'll be fine again and sleeping like a baby. But I've gotten to the point where even when I'm feeling good I know it's only a matter of time until the process starts all over again.

Apparently today is my day to whine, sorry about that.

I know it's not much, but been thinking about you lately, and plotting a possibility to see you more. I need to send out email for it.

Had wicked insomnia myself last night. Didn't manage to get some sleep until 3am, and then only a couple of hours. Called in late to work and tried to catch a wee nap this morning. But mine was very odd... I felt like I'd taken speed or something. I was WIRED and my brain was thinking so fast, I couldn't even keep up with my own thoughts... very disconcerting.

You do indeed need to send out email about it, which I will be awaiting happily :)

That's the kind I generally attribute to stress or just being manic, it's rare and usually has some sort of trigger that I can point to. Luckily it also doesn't tend to last long. This kind makes it tough for me to get to sleep, and when I do I can't stay there, I'm awake at 3 or 4 on the dot and I just kind of lay there hoping to go back to sleep. Generally I don't get tired and comfortable until about 7 which is when I have to get up, of course. The sucky part of this is that it'll last for a week or two at a time. Then it just switches off and I sleep perfectly normal again.

:( Have you talked to a doctor about it? (preferably one who's not prescription happy). That does seem very odd.

Nope but I will at my next appointment, believe me.

Yeah, it definitely sounds hormonal to me. I hope they can help you without putting you on a sleeping pill.

That's what your journal is for; to whine, rage, rave, and share anything you like.

I hope the sleep stuff resolves. My doctor suggested not eating close to bedtime and keeping caffeine to a minimum, with absolutely no caffeine after 4pm.

And there's always Ambien and the other sleep aids that are out there.

Well I've removed all caffeine from my diet months ago, I try to do the eating thing but working late sometimes doesn't make that easy, and sleep aids I'm a little wary of. I have been using Melatonin which works when things aren't too bad.

I'm really sorry you're suffering from insomnia. I suffered from a brief period of sleep deprivation myself due to my cold. I'd wake up two or three times a night with a coughing fit and would need to sit up for at least 20 minutes to half an hour before I could try lying down again. Okay, I know it's not the same thing as insomnia, but even losing an hour of sleep a night can screw up your system.

I know this is going to make me sound like my mom, but you might consider seeing a doctor if this problem persists for much longer. I wonder if it could be related to the winter in any way. I'm not sure what kind of winters you get in your part of the States, but I find my mood is affected by the lack of light. In other words, I seem to suffer from some version of SAD. And this probably has nothing to do with your problem, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case.

Whatever this turns out to be, I hope you find a solution.

Sounds like me when my thyroid meds are off - I can't sleep and the way I smell changes. Did you get your thyroid checked? The tests should be read, if not done, by an endocrinologist. Most PCPs don't know how to read them properly (just like most don't know how to read an x-ray properly). Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. **hugs**
