Mozart has invaded my brain today and various pieces from last night's opera as well as The Magic Flute are filtering through my brain like Muzak in an elevator. Last night's performance of "The Abduction from the Seraglio" was fantastic, as was the company I had during the performance. Thank you once again, [livejournal.com profile] caredhel for inviting me along, I had a wonderful time!

Yesterday was mostly uneventful, with the exception of the opera, and I mostly ended up shivering at my desk wishing I'd picked a warmer costume. Next year I may dress as a furry creature just to be sure I'll be comfortable.

When did I get so thin-skinned? I mean I come from Upstate NY for crissakes, I'm used to 30 below and snow up to my armpits. Here if it gets to 30 above people start acting like it's a sign of the apocalypse. I'm becoming a Californian....gods help me.

One mug-full of coffee is doing a world of good today. Yay caffeine! Yay stimulants! Yay staying awake at work. Not that I'm guessing I'm going to be very productive today, but at least I'm here and that's a start.

Dinner with [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf tonight, mmmm...sushi. I've become such an addict lately (see above descent into California-ism), and resisting the temptation that is Ariake every day on my way home from work is testing the limits of my self control. I'm actually considering learning how to make my own. Doom!

Xmas shopping is now fully underway and too much of my brain these days seems to be focused on accomplishing this task ASAP. Tomorrow will be an orgy of spending the likes of which have never been recorded in the annals of human history. One woman will face Chinatown armed only with a credit card and an absurdly long shopping list. As for the rest of the gifts for folks, well you guys may be getting a lot of handmade stuff this year. It's not that I'm broke or anything, just disinclined to spend versus save just now and it's not like I clear a lot extra every month. In fact it's still surprisingly little when considering the substantial raise I got this year.

Ah well. Today is a day to contemplate a few things, though my horoscope cautioned against too much navel gazing. It said to trust my heart and that if I did good things would happen. Now most of the time my horoscope is completely full of shit, but wouldn't it be nice to think that something amazing and wonderful might happen today?

Mozart's like that, you know. Stuck in your head, finding yourself humming it without even consciously realizing it.

You made this one too easy by mentioning Mozart immediately, but Salieri, speaking in "Amadeus."

Give that man a gold star, and yep I did make it easy, it's Friday and I'm betting we're all pretty sleepy so it seemed fair *G*

You might be from here, but you never embraced the cold and snow (I think the total absence of body fat has something to do with it) in fact you were always quick to sight that you went to the left coast to escape the cold, oh and speaking of snow they say we should have 6-12" tonight, not much yet just some good old CNY "flurries" or flying snowball, so the question begs do you have boots for when you visit, how about a coat, I mean a real coat like to keep you warm or do you plan to stay in where Leah has a fire going, then you could wear your dancing outfit, although that might be too much.

I still have a winter coat, I just generally dont' need it out here. I'll need to pick up some boots and some gloves before I head home, though.
