Apparently yesterday's quote was just a wee bit too obscure, I'll shoot for one from a flick I'm quite certain a good number of you have seen today.

It was great to game again last night, I've missed it for the past few weeks. I like the adventuring party, I adore the other players, and I always have a damn fine time, no matter what mood I'm in. Last night was no exception as our little no-name group kicked serious lizard ass, including the dungeon's big boss, with a minimum of fuss and bother. Teammwork and actual planning were the keys to success, and fortunately our fighter types were buff enough to handle most of it as I'd shot most of my spells fighting the dragon last session. I did get to use a frighteningly successful cantrip last night, and patted myself on the back for being clever and resourceful enough to think of it. I really want to go up a few levels, the necromantic spells just get cooler and cooler the higher up I go. Should get a reasonable XP amount from this little adventure so maybe 5th level isn't too far off.

Aside from that, not much to say about yesterday, it was a day, I got work done, read some more of Chung Kuo book 2 "The Broken Wheel" and am hoping the next book is already out. Apparently the entire series is 9 novels in length. Wow. The complexity of the future the author's created is quite stunning, and the characters are engaging. My only quibble is that the entire novel is fundamentally about the fight between stasis and change. And while he makes all his characters pretty gray and morally neutral, the agents of change are often depicted as damn near evil. I think I would've preferred that he blur the lines between who the heroes and villains were just a bit more. He reins his villains in quite often and does show that the "heroes" have pretty dirty hands too, but there's still too much of a divide. Who knows, maybe that will have changed by book 3.

The weekend is all about party preparation. Cleaning the entire house from top to bottom is a necessity, as is getting all the yardwork done that I've been putting off for weeks. Then finish up my second boot for my costume, paint the appropriate designs on the tunic and bracers and find a decent belt. That should just about do it I think. Maybe I'll try out a couple of recipes I'd like to make for the party and see if they turn out decently. Oh, and there's a Halloween party at Menara on Sunday evening at 6:30 for anyone who'd like to attend and watch some superb dancing and eat some incredible food.

But I think it's from Harold and Maude.
Which was really one of the oddest movies.

Uh. No idea. But my guess simply from topic would be Sixth Sense (and if it is Harold and Maude, nope, wouldn't have gotten it :)

Indeed it is, a nice big gold star to add to your collection!

Sorry hon, it was Harold and Maude, which I'm horrified to discover you haven't seen. Something must be done about this!

I tried watching it once (Cyrrie has it on DVD), got bored, and turned it off. It may be one of those situational movies, or something that needs to be watched en groupe.

Perhaps we should turn it into a CN flick, though I'm not entirely sure what we'd run with it to set the appropriate mood...perhaps "Life of Brian" }:)

Great books. I read them many moons ago, and I think I have most or all of them at home if you want to borrow rather than buy.

A friend of mine once said that all newcomers to AA should get a copy of Harold and Maude along with the Big Book. I would add that they have to watch it repeatedly until they get it. I showed it to a friend of mine and he had no realization that the music (Cat Stevens) is as important as the dialogue.

Harold: "You sure are good with people Maude."
Maude: "Well I should, after all, they're my species."

Mm, I've already bought one and two, but if I can't find the rest I may just take you up on that. I'm quite enjoying the complexity of the politics involved and I adore the complete re-writing of history in favor of the Hans. It's immensely entertaining!

It's one of the only movies with death as a central theme that always makes me feel more alive and in love with life. I've always aspired to be Maude though some days I feel a bit more like Harold *G*

I love _Harold and Maude_
My first girlfriend introduced me to it, which went a long way toward forgiving the rest of the relationship. (:
Since then I have inflicted it on as many of my friends as will hold still for it.
A movie about love and death and life and people. How can you go wrong?
