Just got this in an email from a troupe mate, a quote from an audience member after our performance Saturday night:

You know all the different fruits of the world?
And how you feel when you take a bite out of
each of them?
-That- is how brilliant you all looked up there!!

I do believe that's our first fruit-related compliment. Oh, if interested there are a few pics and a little movie clip up on Alyne's site (www.bellydance.com), just click the "Jewel of Opar" link. I will warn you that on my computer at least the sound on the movie clip was all kinds of screwy. You're better off just muting it and watching. I thought Aelf's blue costume was incredibly eye catching, I'm really glad she ended up in the center.

And damn you, Aelf, for showing me this:
THE OFFICIAL BATTLESTAR: GALACTICA CONVENTION

BURBANK, CALIFORNIA
Sat. & Sun. June 25-26, 2005
Burbank Airport Hilton and Towers
2500 Hollywood Way
KATEE SACKHOFF (LT. KARA “STARBUCK” THRACE)

JAMIE BAMBER (CAPTAIN LEE “APOLLO” ADAMA)

JAMES CALLIS (DOCTOR GAIUS BALTAR)

TRICIA HELFER (Number Six)

RONALD D. MOORE (Executive Producer/Show Developer)

GABRIEL KOERNER (Visual effects Artist whose credits include "Battlestar Galactica", both the 2003 miniseries and 2005 series)

*Whimper*

Burbank's not that far, right? I so don't need the expense right now, but hot damn that's tempting. I mean that's everybody I'd really want to see right there. *sigh* I'll consider it.

Oh and if my sisters back home read this, James Darren (a.k.a. Vic Fontaine from DS9) will be playing the Fair this year on Monday, August 29, 2005. I can't imagine you'd miss this performance, even if it does mean braving the madness that is the State Fair.

Um, aside from that I've got an amazingly cute Hobbit pic on my LOTR calendar today and a mountain of work and emails to dig myself out from under.

YES!!! Burbank is a mere hour and a half away for me. Heh. Now if I can just find someone who will go with me.

As an unbiased observer who's never seen the show in question, I really think you should go to the con. How often does such a thing come your way, right? Also, your family's level of fandom is truly impressive so don't let your street cred slip.

Two excellent points, I need to figure out if I can do it money-wise, though. I know I can't afford the big $300+ ticket, but if I can still manage to afford one that allows me at least Katee's autograph I would feel satisfied.

You have to do this con. You just, you have to.

(And be sure to squee at Katee Sackhoff for me when you do.)

1. You know you want to...
2. You love Battlestar Galactica
3. It's not too far to drive or take the train
4. If you do, Ce and I will take you out to dinner. ;-)

That fair Jimmy Darren is going to be in - here or in your sisters' home state? hoping, hoping, hoping...

I still weep at the price, and that they haven't listed any single-event tickets yet. Don't want to be working (couldn't handle it right now), but man, do I miss having a paycheck. o.O Pity my birthday's already past (though the con is mighty close to yours!).

Still need a Starbuck icon, too.

I'm not sure I can turn this down now...

Alas, it's back home, but it looks like he's doing some gigs in Vegas this summer. If he does so in early fall I may just have to go see him too.
