First, start your Monday off with a giggle and check out a Harry Potter version of the Badger, Badger song, be sure to stick around for the third Snape repeat, it's worth it, I promise. Many thanks to
odogoddess for pointing me at that one.
Why? Because every damn time I do they end up getting freaking killed. Latest case in point, Fushigi Yugi. Admittedly I'd had a sense of foreboding about Nuriko ever since learning he was a transvestite who was madly in love with the emperor. It's anime for a straight audience, you just know it's not going to end well. I suppose I should be content that he made it through 33 episodes, which for my favorites is pretty good. Still, it pissed me off to no end to find out he was dead and I've still got a shitload of episodes to get through. God fucking dammit!
I suppose I wouldn't have minded so much if he hadn't cut off his long purple hair just before the end and decided he was in love with the main female character (whom I loathe passionately). Part of the reason I'd liked him from the start was that he found Miaka as idiotic and unappealing as I did, then he goes and falls for her? WTF? She's almost as bad as that absurd girlie character on Firefly that I hated so (though thankfully I've forgotten most of the details of both her and the series). Almost.
Saturday was monumentally uneventful, which was a lovely change. I donated blood and ran some errands that morning, and then cleaned up the apartment and got all but one package out in the mail. If my damn packing tape hadn't run out I'd be done now *sigh*. Anyway, got many boxes from back home full of stuff and had a mild panic attack trying to find space for it until I could open it. After it gets opened most of it, sadly, will end up boxed up as I've no place to put it.
Spent most of the afternoon after that being a slug and plowing through 26 or so episodes of Fushigi Yugi, then dropped
silkblade off at SFO. The scary thing is, I'd rather drive to SFO than SJC these days after the redesign. San Jose's airport is just scary now, and oh my god difficult to navigate. Ugh.
Got up early Sunday to run still more errands and then go see Troian before gaming. He's such a sweetie. Gaming was fun, and my character got to find a secret passage, for which he was very proud of himself. He almost thwarted an assasination attempt via exploding punchbowl, and nearly became the priest's champion in a duel. Sadly, his advice to the crew was mostly ignored, though it gave him a chance to crow about it later on. I expect he's going to be rubbing it in for a while longer. I also expect that he's eventually going to end up fighting the Eisen weapons master and having his ass handed to him at some point. On the plus side, if he gets killed before the Longest Night then he doesn't have to go. To be honest, I kinda wouldn't mind seeing him get killed off, I've been playing him for a really long time and I wouldn't be heartbroken to create a new character to play. As long as he had a splendid death.

Date: 2004-12-20 05:00 pm (UTC)I thought my gaming group was the only one on the planet currently engaged in a campaign using that system. Are you using the old keep rules or the new d20 stuff?
Har! We should compare characters and plots sometime.

Ewww, they made a new d20 system? Nah, we're old skool, man, loads o' d10s for us.
Har! We should compare characters and plots sometime.
Well I'm currently a Vesten privateer on a multi-cultural ship whose captain lost her body and is now co-habiting the body of a Montagian lass with a Vodacce lad (it's complicated). Our acting captain is an Avalonian half-fey pale and tragic type with an almost 7 foot tall fiancee. We have a Castillian priest who just released a major demon of Legion upon the world (accidentally!) who's our ship's physician. We're currently learning that none of us are quite prepared to deal with Vodacce politics, and my character has a disturbing fate hanging over his head involving the Winter Solstice and the Wanderer's Isle. I can point you at our mission logs if you're interested. And how about your crew?

Date: 2004-12-20 05:49 pm (UTC)Lessee - I'm Montaignian gentry with a University background in the medical and scholarly arts increasingly involved in (and improving at) swordplay.
The plot involves chasing down a series of gemstones all over Theah to complete the settings in a Syrneth compass, a sub-rosa commission of sorts from Queen Elaine, supposedly of great importance to the future of Theah. In our best estimation, we've got at least two different organized sets of villains opposing us - one of whom is a wealthy former Rose-and-Cross knight - plus random/non-random interference from the Rilasciare. The current gem is located somewhere inside of L'Empereur's palace, which is why my neck's on the line with Montaignian courtly intrigue trying to gain us relatively-authorized entry. My less-than-beloved fiancée's Valroux de Martise lover wants me dead, particularly after I showed her up (she insulted me first, and I got 63 on my contested social roll - bee-yatch!) at the latest courtly soirée. On the other hand, I now have the ear of the Captain of the Musketeers, an appointment with him and his wife at the Palace to discuss my recent adventures and, though he doesn't know it yet, an eye to see how we might gain legal posession of the next stone of the compass.
'Nuf said for now?

Date: 2004-12-20 06:00 pm (UTC)Oh man could we use your character in Vodacce right about now. Our current crew doesn't do the whole court intrigue very well, and I swear if any of us get poisoned just one more time... *sigh* Have you visited "Little Charouse" (the sewers) yet? If not I recommend that you avoid them. Seriously.
BTW, our logs: http://www.nog.net/~cyrano/rp/7th/

Date: 2004-12-20 07:27 pm (UTC)No, I've personally stayed out of the sewers - another half of my party is trying to access l'Empereur's palace through there, but I think that's gonna be a bad plan in every possible respect. It's high-road or nothing this time, I fear.
Briefly perusing your first log: seems like high slashy fun, double-entendre fully intended. Not my personal taste, but I'm sure you're enjoying yourself - again, fully intended d-e. /B-,
huh?

Re: huh?
Date: 2004-12-21 04:24 pm (UTC)The bit about the Eisen fellow probably still being in town rather than taking the poor poisoned Dominica off to the estate. Remember when my eyes widened and I growled, "I told you, I so totally fucking told you!" Hav has keen "There's a superior ass-kicker around" senses :)
heh

Date: 2004-12-22 05:13 pm (UTC)I kinda fell for Nuriko when I watched an ep in English and noted that the same actress that does Washu in the Tenchi series was doing Nuriko. Or at least it sounds just like her. And yep, currently stuck on the cliff in Miaka's retarded little romantic fantasy sequence. Is it wrong to be hoping that the bad guy will drain her life energy completely? Oh and I so knew Amiboshi wasn't dead.
