Had a surprisingly full Xmas this year which included making way too much food (shocking, I know), and playing "Kinect Adventures" with [livejournal.com profile] tersa and [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf. The game was a fantastic workout and nearly convinced E- to promptly buy one for himself. Thankfully he realized he wouldn't have the space for it in his home before he did so. Indulged in my Xmas tradition of watching the Jeremy Brett Adventures of Sherlock Holmes episode "The Blue Carbuncle" and then [livejournal.com profile] tersa and I busted out her copy of the Walking Dead board game. The game reflects the show pretty well, though sadly there is no Daryl to play. We intend to rectify that ourselves, of course, because he needs to be playable. She played Dale and I played Glenn, we quickly discovered that with only two players doom is almost completely assured. 'Cause as soon as one of you dies (in our case, Dale) it's game over, man, game over.

Then we went to see "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" at CineArts. Have to say I was bowled over by just how incredible it was. It's one of those movies you know you'll be buying as soon as it comes out on DVD. Great performances all around, superb story, and it was actually filmed on location in Hungary, Istanbul, etc. This is one film I can easily say is worth every cent of its full price.
