Apr. 8th, 2009 07:43 pmBit of an info dump tonight, sorry about that. First for the locals I'd recommend avoiding Chinese restaurants for the time being as there's a bit of a salmonella scare relating to spices. One of the restaurants on the list is the one right next to my office, yikes!
Second, Kage had a great appointment last night, so good that the vet sent her home without a bandage. Of course he said she could skip the bandage only if she wore the collar and Aelf and I quickly agreed that was not a viable option. She won't eat with the collar on and she can't afford to lose any more weight. Second, Pye freaks out badly around the collar, he hisses at it when it's just lying around, and I'm not making him crazy again. So she's stuck with a lighter bandage but she seems pretty ok with it. I also picked up some 20 gauge needles for her fluid treatment, much to the amusement of the vet tech C-. He assured me it wouldn't make the slightest difference to Kage, but I insisted. So I tried them tonight and it slid in like butter. Better the fluid moved so slowly that she barely even noticed it. I got more fluid into her before she started to get antsy than I've been able to on my own. I'm calling it a win.
Third I just caught the first episode of "Deadliest Warrior" and I think I'm hooked. It's historical warrior battles, the first one Apache Warrior vs. Gladiator. Scientists and fighting specialists test out different weapons and fighting tactics and a specially developed computer program calculates who takes who in a one on one battle. I won't spoil it, but I will admit that I was cheering over the winner. The show appeals to both my raging historical geek side and my rather blood thirsty side. It's fun and informational, I highly recommend it!
