Mar. 15th, 2009 06:56 pmSo I had intended to see Watchmen this weekend, had even made group plans and everything. Then my neighbors who, for some reason that is totally unknown to me, insist on cramming things down their in-sink-erator that just don't belong there, clogged up the pipes again. Sadly when this happens they are not the only ones to suffer. About an hour before I was supposed to leave for the movie the husband from next door came over to tell me there was no one in the office but that he'd leave "a note" about the problem. I sighed, picked up the phone and called the manager who promised to get someone over ASAP.
Her guy finally showed up about 45 minutes later and declared the problem beyond his abilities. But, he promised, an actual plumber would be along to work on the problem...thing is I'd have to be there for it. Much as I wanted to see the movie having a functional sink won out.
On the plus side the plumber was actually a complete hottie.
Of course he didn't have to spend much time in my apartment because I wasn't the moron who'd tried to shove an entire meal down the drain. I have a compost pile and I'm not afraid to use it. After another hour or so I had a filthy, but empty sink and after some serious scrubbing my kitchen was my own again.
During that time I figured I'd get some work done and I can proudly say that despite having only started the quilting on my niece's quilt Friday night, I'm almost done tonight. I got the edges pinned and a couple of more hours should finish those off. If I'm lucky I might just get it out in the mail on time. Go me!
I also got the chance to watch "Chak de India!" thanks to
aelfsciene and I absolutely adored it. Possibly one of the greatest girl power flicks I've ever seen. I fell a little in love with the character Komol, who was kind of an Indian hockey playing, live action version of Toph from Avatar. Indeed she'd kick ass if put in the role.
I need to pick up a copy of this movie for my niece in the worst way. It's not lacrosse (her sport of choice at the moment) but it's close enough. Hmm, maybe I could pick up a copy of "Dhoom 2" while I'm at it...
Also got some quality time in on the garden this weekend, with assistance from Kage and Pye of course. Speaking of Kage, she's eating again, looking more alert and happy, and no longer wobbling when she walks. I know I should've scheduled her for surgery this weekend but I just didn't have the heart to do it. I wanted her to have one more good weekend and I think I've fulfilled that. I'm feeling more...peaceful about her and our situation at the moment than I have since it all began.
And I've been sticking to the nightly 20 push ups routine but I'm thinking I might want to switch from every night to every other as my joints and muscles are hurting more than they should. Gawd I'm getting old, I'm not sure I'd realized just how old until I started exercising again.
