Jun. 16th, 2008 02:23 pmI had the loveliest birthday weekend in great part due to
moonlightnrain and
aelfsciene who came over to spend the evening with me. We had burritos for supper while we watched "Fido" which was so superb I went ahead and added it to my Amazon shopping cart. As soon as I get my latest $25 gift certificate it's *mine*. If I had to sum the movie up I'd say, "Imagine that instead of the Cold War in the 50's Earth had been exposed to weird space radiation that turned the dead into flesh eating zombies. Picture 'Leave it to Beaver' with zombies." Seriously this film had us all howling with laughter and by the end saying we couldn't believe we were actually thinking this, but it was a feel good zombie flick. Oh and the soundtrack kicked ass! Expect me to pimp this film to everyone at every opportunity. Indeed I may try to convince
cyranocyrano to watch it instead of SG-1 tonight :)
I managed to score just under $200 in charitable donations which makes me so incredibly happy I can't even tell you. In addition I've got some lovely new jewelery and books, books, books from my sisters, in addition to the game Okami (interestingly different on the PS2 than the Wii, but every bit as pretty as I remembered).
moonlightnrain actually made me the coolest stuff, including a furry 4-eyed octopus named Ernie and the Camberwick Green versions of Sam and Gene from LoM. I'll take pictures and post them, promise! Oh and she found my new favorite herbal tea which I made a cup of for all of us while we watched "Pitch Black" later on that evening. We also had Aelf's magnificent low sugar/low fat key lime pie. It was her first time making it and all I can say is "Yum!"
But the even bigger news today is that I will (at least for the next month or so) once again be a minion of His Lordship
forkmonkey! An actual honest to gods job! I should be starting on Wednesday and I'm feeling very excited. It's going to be a lot of work, but interesting work with a company doing something actually important and fascinating. It's a great opportunity and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Should be starting Wednesday-ish. All I can say is YAY!
