May. 6th, 2008 10:51 amSo I thought I'd update you all on the UPS saga, I got a call yesterday from the manager of the store who had a check for me. I zoomed over and she asked me which bank I was with, when I told her she got a worried look on her face. As it turns out my bank had previously refused to cash one of the checks for another customer (leading one to wonder just how often this particular store loses people's packages, hmm?), because the check was made out to the store rather than me. Sure enough when I took it to the bank they sent me on my way again so I went right back to the store. Thankfully the manager realized she'd better resolve this now and did the most sensible thing I've ever seen, she took all the cash out of her registers and paid me the full amount right on the spot.
Unfortunately they didn't refund the full shipping amount, which means I've gotten in touch with the main headquarters to address this. Sorry, but I refuse to pay a company to lose my package, that's just absurd.
