Mar. 28th, 2008 10:35 amSorry to disappear yesterday but there was lunch with my former coworker I-, then I zoomed up to the old office to grab some Paranormals art that the former boss said I could have. Of course as S- and G- were in the office I had to sit down and chat with each of them for a bit. S- was intensely curious about my interview this week as they'd been talking to him about doing some consulting work. I gave him my impressions and wished him the best of luck.
I also got the low down on the old company in an abbreviated form, but the good news is that it sounds like we will be getting our vacation pay after all. Yay! It's not much but it's something. Another month's rent anyway, and hell I'll take that right now.
Ran a bunch of errands after that and felt all accomplished. Came home and puttered around outside with the cats. It turns out that the garden isn't quite as dead as I'd feared (no thanks to the workmen). Mint, thankfully, is about the hardiest plant on the planet and a few bits of green are starting to poke back through all the dirt and construction debris. Also noted that my alpine strawberries are bouncing back, how cool is that? Though I'm afraid my honeysuckle has given up the ghost, poor thing. Ah well. Once I'm sure the construction and painting around my apartment are done I'm going to start a bunch of cuttings from the mints in my planters, and when they root I can start gardening in earnest again. And I got my composting started again by clearing out the fridge, I'm going to need that compost I suspect. I've no idea what to think of the quality of the soil out there now, but I'm a bit dubious about putting new cuttings into it without a little extra something to help them survive.
