So I considered playing along with the whole zombie apocalypse meme but then realized that I'd just be typing up one of my last zombie-related stress dreams and that doesn't sound all that much fun. What everyone who is playing along is writing is cool, but really not all that different from what I wake up occasionally in a cold sweat from, so... I blame the fact that all of my apartments are so full of windows...so many difficult to defend windows...

On the plus side I do happen to own a sword that's really more like a machete and could undoubtedly cleave an undead in twain, still Pye would get us all killed with his infernal yowling in nothing flat. We might survive a few hours if they were the dumb, slow moving type. If they were the hopped up on rage sprinters we'd be done for real quick.

At any rate, on to more pleasant topics, I had to swing by the pet store last night and as I was just a short ways away from BB&B I swung by there and treated myself to a brand new bathmat in deep purple and a dark blue towel and wash rag set. Yeah, I know, how do I keep up with my fast-paced life of thrills and excitement?

Did manage to score a new type of mouse for Pye, and he seemed to enjoy it. It rattles (which he loves) and seems to be covered in what can best be described as Barbie doll hair. He seems to enjoy weird textures in his toys so I figured it was a no brainer.

Treated myself to opening the great big box o' goodness from [livejournal.com profile] windrose last night and it was wonderful! I have a gorgeous new tea set compliments of the Jasmine Dragon, best tea shop in Ba Sing Se, and some incredible smelling mint tea to make in it. Woo! Plus a lovely lotus-shaped candle holder, already proudly on display in my living room. Thank you so much for everything, hon, it was just perfect :)

And finally I still have the damn futon, which I'm beginning to suspect is cursed. I got one actual spark of interest on CL, but she says she can't pick it up for 2 weeks. That's about it. Does nobody need free furniture? *sigh*

This is the greatest summary of the past 6 years of foreign policy I have ever read:

Putting aside the theatrics, of course, Bush’s plan, such as it was, consisted pretty much of chest thumping and poop flinging... What’s really fucked up is that every Republican candidate for President has for all intents and purposes tied themselves to the Chest Thump & Poop school of foreign policy. Even as Bush implodes across the board, the Republican need for hierarchy and control (not to mention rigid authoritarianism in the face of perceived threat, (however ludicrously overblown that threat may be) asserts itself. This phenomenon is the greatest threat to American democracy in my lifetime, if not ever.
