And They Cook Too is a neat little cookbook by bloggers to help benefit Doctors Without Borders. Great cause and some fun people involved with the project, sounds like a win-win to me.

Rodgers over at Kungfu Monkey comes up with the perfect way to save the theater industry:

I'm sure you've seen, the movie theater industry is now about to show live sports in order to staunch the bleeding. Theater attendance down 9% ... what to do, what to do ... how, they wail, how do we get people to go back to the movie theaters? Digital tech, bigger seats -- what?

This sort of clueless shit just reinforces the obvious truth that the people who run movie theater chains don't actually see movies in movie theaters. Because I will tell you right now, right here, how to get people to go back to seeing movies in theaters. Without disruptive technology. Without theater upgrades. All for, oh, $4.65 an hour per screen.

I will now save your industry:

Hire. Fucking. USHERS.

Read the rest back here, and repeat after me, Amen! )

V for Vendetta

Faithful Assistant actually had the two men beside her get up and leave after 35 minutes, because of the "politics". Which, all in all, was a good thing, because they were talking nonstop, and were therefore fuckwits.

So it has come to our attention that some people are not able to get past the "politics" of V and enjoy the flick. Which is odd, as the "politics" consist pretty much of "Fascism is bad." I'm not one to make blanket judgements, but you cannot simultaneously root for Luke Skywalker and be offended at V without revealing something ... curdled in your understanding of your self and your relation to the world around you.

Heh. Reminds me I need an icon...
