Many big sloppy kisses to
elo_sf for bequeathing his mondo 27" tv upon me, and for lugging it down the stairs at his place. That thing's a real monster! And big hugs to
tersa for helping me lug it into my place. Definitely one of those times I was incredibly glad to live on the first floor. It just barely fits on my tv stand, for a second or two I wondered if I shouldn't have measured it first. But we got it on there. And I've already had someone express interest in my old one on Freecycle so it shouldn't be cluttering up my living room for much longer either. Yay!
eilonwey's baby shower was lovely on Saturday, though it reminded me once again that I both suck and blow at shower games. I mean really, I'm just awful. Went home afterwards and watched the BSG ep we'd missed by going to see Nightwatch Friday night. While I'm thinking of it, Santana Row is fucking insane to try to park at on a Friday evening. Seriously, nutty, just nutty. The theater was nice, though, and the seats were definitely more comfy than the Aquarius. Everybody else seemed to enjoy it as much as I did, which makes me happy.
Anyway, Saturday we grabbed some dinner and then settled in for a truly atrocious Chinese "horror" film called "Death Melody". It looked like it had been a made for public access production. And the subtitling was quite possibly the worst I'd ever seen, which of course made it wildly amusing for all the wrong reasons. After that we watched the Japanese horror film "The Audition". I liked the build up in the movie, the establishment of the characters and their motivations that lulled you into thinking you were going to get a sort of mild comedy/romance. And then, of course, the last 15 minutes changed all that in an incredibly gory manner. The best part, though, was Aelf's reactions to the various scary bits, I had to bite my tongue several times so as not to give away what was coming next. I can safely say she didn't disappoint on that one :)
