Brave warrior in the battle against the Homosexual Agenda speaks out:

“This is about bullying people and saying you will kneel down and bow to the Baal god of homosexuality — or we’ll make your life very miserable.” Bob Knight of Concerned Women for America’s Culture and Family Institute

And what's he reacting to you might ask? This actually:

Last week I blogged about the safe space poster that was causing all the hubbub out in California’s San Leandro Unified School District (SLUSD). The district mandated that teachers display the signs in classrooms to indicate to students that “This is a safe place to be who you are. This sign affirms that support and resources are available for you in this school.”

Holy crap, you mean teachers were asked to put up a poster promoting tolerance and acceptance for a villified minority in this day and age? What is our country coming to? Next thing you know they'll be hanging rainbow flags and making blood offerings to Ba'al right there in the classroom.

Although, my fellow homosexual agenda promoters, do you really think we should go with Ba'al? I mean he wasn't really much of a god to begin with and a total lameass on Stargate SG-1. Couldn't we pick someone more, I dunno', charismatic? I'm thinking Apollo might be fun, then we could use pictures of Jamie Bamber on our altars. Think about it, won't you?

I do love the fact that these folks see their intolerance as a positive thing, and our disgust with it as trying to bully them into marching in the next LGBT parade. It's like they only have one socially acceptable hatred left and they're determined to hang onto it as long as possible. It almost makes me respect the neo-nazi movement, I mean at least they don't go around whining about their rights to irrational racial hatred being stepped on.

On an unrelated note, if you're interested in how the votes went down for Alito, just click here. It's about what I expected, and hey we got a Republican and an Independent on our side, it's a start.

Jane at Firedoglake sums up my own reaction to the events of this weekend pretty darn well. The liberal base got energized, who'd a thunk it? We pulled together, we made calls, sent faxes and emails, and basically did everything we could to tell our representatives that we were paying attention and were very passionate about this vote. The Dems got a wake up call, and we're already focusing on the next big battle, the NSA wiretap investigation, is going to require more of the same. We need to stay on the Dems to finally get their collective acts together and start acting like a true opposition party. It's time for them to earn their damn paychecks.

A great place to get yourself up to speed on the wiretap issue is Glen Greenwald's "Unclaimed Territory". He's a First Amendment rights lawyer who knows what the hell he's talking about, and his blog's posts on the subject are even making major newspapers like the Washington Post.

Sadly, No! points us to possibly the most insane paragraph ever to come out of the certifiable wingnut (and aptly, though amusingly named), Hindrocket (warning, liquid spewing possibility is high):

Whatever the numbers may be at the moment, the Democrats have turned themselves into the party of the super-rich, and for the foreseeable future, they'll have a financial edge over the Republicans, even though that advantage will be manifested in soft money, which can be given to "independent" groups like MoveOn.org in infinite quantities.

No, really, read it again. I'll give you a moment to take in the awesome scope of this man's psychosis.

Do they even receive Earth transmissions on Planet Wingnut any more? Because according to those leftist radicals over at CNN, the numbers look a little more like this:

-Of voters making less than $15,000 a year, 63% voted for Kerry, 36% for Bush

-Of voters making between $15k and $30k a year, 57% voted for Kerry, 42% voted for Bush

-Of voters making more than $200,000 a year, 35% voted for Kerry, 63% voted for Bush.

Go read the rest if you really do need to be reminded that the sky is blue and the grass green, despite what Mr. Hindrocket might like to assert. Somedays the Right just makes my head hurt.

It starts

Well that didn't take long:

A new provision tucked into the Patriot Act bill now before Congress would allow authorities to haul demonstrators at any "special event of national significance" away to jail on felony charges if they are caught breaching a security perimeter.

...Sen. Arlen Specter , R-Pa., chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sponsored the measure, which would extend the authority of the Secret Service to allow agents to arrest people who willingly or knowingly enter a restricted area at an event, even if the president or other official normally protected by the Secret Service isn't in attendance at the time.

...the new provision would allow ... arrests even after those VIPs have left the premises of any designated "special event of national significance." The provision would increase the maximum penalty for such an infraction from six months to one year in jail.

..."You are talking about giving the executive branch broader authority to create these exclusion zones which could cover broad areas and last for days [during an event ]," David Kopel, a constitutional expert with the Cato Institute, told FOXNews.com....

Hey Dems in the Senate, could we maybe bring this up when it comes time to discuss the Patriot Act, hmm?
