Voldemort can't stop the rock
Jul. 31st, 2005 07:56 pmOh sweet mother of gods, you have not rocked until you've rocked with Harry and the Potters! Their lyrics may leave a bit to be desired, and well there's only so much you can do with a Cassio and an electric guitar; but oh my were they a riot performing. The two hopped around the packed little meeting room like lemurs on crack, kicking things off with "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock", title song from their second album. Some of the highlights that broke us utterly were the lyrics to "Platform 9 3/4" ("You can't get to Hogwarts on a bus") and "Keeping Secrets From Me" which was all about Harry's teen anger management issues or "CAPS LOCK!" Harry as one of the audience members shouted out (the primal "I'm so angry!" had us howling). "The Human Hosepipe" was a hoot, but the new one about Ginny Weasley from Book 6 nearly killed us, I cannot wait until the next CD, the Half Blood Prince stuff is going to be sweet as hell. They didn't do "Cornelius Fudge is an Ass" (hey, there were kids present), but it's wonderful, and "SPEW" with audience participation was way too much fun.
A bunch of folks who were obviously long time fans showed up in "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock" t-shirts and "Save Ginny Weasley" ones and brought birthday cakes for the Harrys (July 31st, after all), and they spent the entire concert dancing and shouting out the lyrics. Thought they might riot if the boys hadn't done "The Wrath of Hermione", but of course they did. At the end of the show they sang a birthday song to one another, then the entire audience sang it to them and the merchandise table was immediately swarmed. Everyone who wanted it shared the birthday cakes some of the fans had brought (one with a lightening bolt decoration and one death eater version with Voldemort), and others ran up for autographs from the boys.
We all spent a little too much on merchandise, but hey it's all for a good cause and with any luck the Harrys will be back again before too long.
