So I've spent the past couple of weeks in this blissful, non-allergic state where my sinuses functioned properly and all was right with the world. No longer, it would seem. Now, right before the big performance I have a nasty allergy attack. I'm fighting it off with anti-histamines and ibuprofen, but I'm running a slight fever, my head fills like it's stuffed with cotton and I'm all achy and tired. This does not bode well. On the other hand it's not as bad as I felt before DDF. Am seriously considering calling in on Friday and just sleeping all day.
Got loads done last night, though it would seem my desktop is on its last legs. Any time it boots to Safe Mode you know you're in trouble. I didn't dare turn it off once I got it on, and just spent the night making MPGs from the AVIs of the first 9 eps of BSG. Though, for some reason, ep number 2 refuses to convert for me. It's vexing, but I'll settle for getting all the others done, then I can shut off the computer. So I'm now pondering the intelligence of getting another desktop (I'd like to keep all the stuff on my current harddrive, but hell, I've got a CD burner), versus just plunking down some cash on a good laptop. I'm leaning more and more towards the latter, then taking out the harddrive on the desktop and maybe selling it on Craigslist or something. In any case this has now become a priority, and if I have time on Friday or Sunday I may swing by Fry's to do a little window shopping.
Also got to watch the final episode of "Murder Rooms", the fictional mystery adventures of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Dr. Bell. It was the one with Rik Mayall playing a fiendishly clever police lieutenant, wherein Bell buys Doyle's brother a deerstalker hat. I giggle about that every time I see the episode. I really should just purchase the series and be done with it. It'd be a nice complement to my Sherlock DVDs.
