ebonlock: (Bring in the Cat)
The successful outcome of my car inspection yesterday (I owe the bank nothing, woo!) spurred a slight shopping spree last evening but I got a nice pair of black heels for the wedding Saturday and comfy sneaks that I can actually walk in. Also swung by Target to pick up some necessary items. Then a little online shopping (I could no longer resist the lure of the BSG series soundtrack when I noted a track titled "Starbuck Buck Buck"). Also got my insurance stuff taken care of then noted that the dealer had put the old address on most of my paperwork. *sigh* He called me right back about it and I left voice mail for the business manager but haven't heard back yet. Think I'll just call her and be done with it.

A slight foray into girlie TMI land, just skip over this bit unless you really want to know. )

I'm finding that the whole dieting thing is way easier this time around because I'm actually experimenting with new and different recipes of my own creation. My most recent new use for the tomato and pesto concoction of mine is a sort of Mediterranean faux-pizza. Basically a whole wheat pita with a serving of hummus spread over it, then the tomato mixture on top. Pop it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and you've got about a 220 calorie meal that's tasty and filling. Yum! Maybe I should add a bit of spinach on there as well next time. This is a fun challenge and the more entertaining and creative I find the whole process the more likely I am to stick with it.

Can I reach my goal of 135 by the 19th? I'm almost beginning to think so!

Wisc. Hunter Wants Open Season for Cats:

MADISON, Wis. - Hunter Mark Smith welcomes wild birds on to his property, but if he sees a cat, he thinks the "invasive" animal should be considered fair game.

The 48-year-old firefighter from La Crosse has proposed that hunters in Wisconsin make free-roaming domestic cats an "unprotected species" that could be shot at will by anyone with a small-game license.

His proposal will be placed before hunters on April 11 at the Wisconsin Conservation Congress spring hearings in each of the state's 72 counties.
[...]
Sheri Carr, senior humane officer at the Dane County Humane Society, said the group has not yet taken a position on the proposal, but wants cat owners to abide by their local ordinances and not let their animals roam.

"I would hate to think that tame, owned cats who happen to slip out would be at risk of being deemed a wild, unprotected species," Carr said. "It's a delicate (ecological) balance out there, but does that mean people should be able to shoot their neighbor's cat? Probably not."

I know there are cat haters in this world, but Jesus this is sick.
