You know I completely forgot it was Cupid's Day (there is no Valentine, only Cupid) until the radio reminded me this morning. I was like, "Why the hell are they playing 'Mon Amor' as the 80's at 8 this morning? That's kind of a weird...oh, yeah, right." As far as I'm concerned today is drop my car off for paint work (which may only take until Wednesday, woo!) and rent a car day. I like the Kia I got though someone had programmed all the stations to Jesus channels. I fixed that first thing, then the mirrors and seats. One has to have one's priorities.

Oh and via [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes, in honor of the day:

From tytaniastrange, a sentiment well expressed:

My holidays are not everyone else's holidays. There is no Valentine's Day in the world I inhabit. There is Dies Irae, the day of wrath every February 14th. At this point, a relationship is immaterial. Dies Irae is deeply ingrained into my psyche. Even chocolates injected with mood-altering drugs have no effect on my joyous misery. Don't even try to coo in my general direction. Wrath and coo don't mix. Even if they did, wrath is catching. Just wait a few more years and I'll have enough converts that Hallmark will start making us cards and little stuffed angry animals with little broken hearts.

I haven't laughed so hard in a while, Dies Irae and little angry stuffed animals, I would so get into that holiday! Heh.

And, [livejournal.com profile] tir, this is the best icon ever:

And [livejournal.com profile] lone_hobbit, has the best Cupid's Day themed icon:

If you're one of those folks who likes to be all mushy and sentimental today (yes, [livejournal.com profile] ravenmb, I'm talking to you), definitely go see "Bride and Prejudice". The updated Bollywood version manages to remain surprisingly true to the original, though the casting of Darcy left a bit to be desired. Naveen is absolutely wonderful and leads the first song and dance routine (and does so very well), though his sister (played by the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Indira Varma) comments that he looks rather like the "Hindi M.C. Hammer". All the girls are gorgeous (except the one that isn't supposed to be, though her cobra dance is hands down the funniest part of the film), the men pretty, the locations stunning, and the musical numbers fun. I was a little sad that most of the songs were in English, but on the plus side they have gotten stuck in my head repeatedly since seeing it.

So two big thumbs up for this one, and those who are into such things should at least go for the costume porn. Half the film you'll spend thinking "What a fun movie" and the other half thinking, "Oh my god I want those costumes!".
