My goodness I've missed LJ, I didn't realize how very much I've come to rely on it. That's possibly quite sad.
Anyway, shamelessly stolen from

Got loads done this weekend, including finally gifting M- and
esmerel, hooray! That's the final two gifts I had to give out locally. I'm shipping one more and then that's that. Yay! I also got the coolest hand painted box from M-, it's this stunning image of Artemis combing out her long dark hair with her bow and quiver behind her. It's all done in blues, purples, silvers and blacks. My jaw dropped when I saw it, and dropped again when I got it home and examined it under some proper lighting. It took only a few seconds for it to wind up on my altar. It's amazing, when I moved out here I barely had anything with my patron goddess on it, now I've got an altar full of images and I couldn't be happier.
Saturday I got to class (which was a fabulous workout) then ran many errands, found the perfect frames for an Artemis print and one of the Horned God that Aelf gave me a while back. I knew I had chosen wisely when I showed them to her all framed and matted and she made appreciative noises. Zoomed up to spend some time with
elo_sf between his international trips. He was sweet enough to pick up the entire Spaced box set for me while in London (which is really cool, btw), and played The Woman in White for me, which was quite good from what I heard of it. My favorite song was the one Michael Crawford performed, of course. Man I'd love to see him live again. *sigh*
Aelf and I managed to get through the ROTK EE with cast commentary that evening, which was bittersweet. As much as I wanted to watch it and hear what everyone had to say it was so sad to know that it was the last time. Although Bernard Hill gets some serious fangirl points from me for asking all the same questions of Peter that I'd desperately wanted answers to as well. Go Theoden, King!
Sunday I got a later start than I'd hoped, but got some gifty stuff taken care of then ran off to get dressed up for
mallen's wedding shower. I was late for lunch with
cyranocyrano and
tersa, but comforted myself with the thought that usually I'm early for such things and there's a first time for everything. We had lunch at Amarin, spent a bit of time at Book Buyers, then off we went. The drive was lovely and the housing development the party took place at was...impressive. I took to referring to it internally as "the compound". C- was most amused by a house with an honest to goodness parapet. After getting a bit lost we finally figured out where we were supposed to be and had a lovely time. M- and M- make a lovely couple and everyone who attended seemed very nice. There were loads of presents and tons of food and a very yummy cake. I even got a bit of time to sit and chat with
mallen after the opening of the gifts, which was great, it's been much too long.
Got home in time to do some laundry and watch "Gangster No. 1" (thank you,
tersa!) which I adored. Mmm David Thewliss was the HAWT in that one, although I kept hearing him doing Remus with the same voice and mannerisms as his Freddy May character ("I don't fink you want to fuck with me or next full moon I'll bite your fuckin' 'ead off.") and I kept bursting into inappropriate giggles. My only complaint? Paul Bettany, while superb, was about a foot and a half taller than Malcolm, which made me wonder if the character was supposed to have shrunk over the years. Otherwise very good, if violent and decidedly bloody (if you can stomach your average Hong Kong flick you'll be fine), and the soundtrack was a lot of fun. Two big thumbs up from me.
