I really liked this interesting essay on Remus/Tonks shipping, and if I squint a bit at the character it's one of the few het relationships I can see working. I generally prefer not to squint and just see him shipped with Severus, but that's me. Still, I'd agree with the author, it is a relationship I could see JK actually putting into a future book. Though I suspect, as much as she loves him, that Remus isn't long for this world. :(

So we've apparently come mostly full circle as far as costumes for the Witches Ball are concerned. The new design incorporates some of the elements that I was hoping for (long drapey bit covering the midriff, yay!) but also presents some serious challenges. I spent most of the night being dubious about managing to properly tuck my veils in the new get up. Think I'll try putting it all together tonight and giving it a test run tomorrow to see how it works.

Alyne was bemoaning the fact that she'd chosen a fabric set for which she had no matching veils. I got to be a bit smug as mine do (yeah I went with green, but I insist that I was mostly peer pressured into it, "Oh Ellie you must get the green set!"). That does it, my next troupe costume is going to be a hot color, something nice and gold or red.

The highlight of the evening was getting to watch T-'s boyfriend's video clips of our Sunday performance. In all it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd thought, indeed parts of it I did quite well in. The best part, though, was hearing her boyfriend and another friend making little whispered comments throughout. His, "This is my favorite part!" during our body waves made us all giggle. Though I will admit to being partial to the delighted, "Ooooh, here come the double veils, in back!" It's so nice that even non-dancers get a bit of a thrill by double veils. The crowd wasn't nearly so excited on Sunday night so I didn't get a sense of much of a reaction at that point, hearing that there was one made me very happy. And apparently nobody could believe how long we maintained perfect airplane spins, heh, sometimes I can't quite believe it either :)

The clips were a nice taste of what's to come but oh how I want to get my hands on the DDF professional version. There are still probably a few weeks before we can even realistically expect it at this point. Ah well, I've needed to work on the whole patience thing anyhow.
