At last the DDF photos are trickling in! These are definitely worth the wait, though:
Check out the lovely ladies
And our vixen shots can be found here
There are scads more, but they're HUGE so I need to bring them down to a reasonable size before posting them. Eventually I'd like to get up some thumbnail pages on our site, but I've got a ton of other projects to finish first I'm afraid.
We spent about a half an hour of class last night going through hard copies of the pics and giggling madly. Then Alyne shared some sad news with us. E-, an older lady who never missed a class until a few months ago and had bowed out due to a hip injury, has been diagnosed with cancer. From the sound of it, the prognosis is quite grim. I liked her a lot and got to spend some time talking to her and her husband at one of the last haflas I attended at B-'s place. She's led an amazing and wonderful life and has a great guy to spend the rest of it with so it's not all dire. Still, she's a real sweetheart and I'm very sad that she won't be rejoining us.
Then we discussed the Witches Ball performance where we're required to wear "period" costumes that would be appropriate for the theme, "The Silk Road". Alyne was thinking more Persian, caftan with a scarf around the waist. It didn't really inspire any of us, so I proposed going with saris instead. Now that intrigued everyone and T- and I recommended going to the SJ flea market to see if we couldn't pick up some fairly cheap ones. So Saturday's class has turned into a shopping expedition as a troupe...given how much I spent on the last troupe-related shopping I'm quite terrified. Fortunately this time I will simply bring along a set amount of cash and once I've spent it, that's that.
Got out of class later than I'd hoped, but we did the entire performance (and dancing in front of a mirror is now exceedingly confusing) then ran "Hinko" (the veil piece) a second time. I finally got to pull Alyne aside and ask about the timing on the cyclone, which I paid special attention to and noted that yes, it was ending up a different count each time. She's told me the official timing on it so that's what I'm sticking with, I feel much more secure about it now.
Zoomed home and did some looking around online to post info to the group and then uploaded a few of the pics before passing out. Getting up this morning was a bit of a trial but I bribed myself by heating up one of the new Amy's meals I picked up at Whole Foods. It's a spinach/tofu scramble with hashbrowns (320 calories, woo!) and it is to die for! Oh my gosh, there were bits of zucchini and mushroom and even slices of tomato. Yum! I'm picking up a few more of those the next time I'm over there. I have their Palak Paneer for lunch today *drool*
Also noted that there's a Starbuck's going in beside Golden Phoenix. There will soon be a Starbuck's within easy walking distance. DOOM
