Hot captain on captain action
May. 14th, 2004 09:02 amI'm very glad
tersa invited me along to the away game viewing party last night. It was way too much fun. The jumbotron was not exactly the best way to view a game (too many times I ended up wondering where the hell the puck was), but seeing an away game and getting all the crowd cheers, the power play "Jaws" riff, etc. really was the next best thing to being there.
It was funny as we were walking in I'd worn a gray t-shirt because I figured it was close enough to Sharks colors to go under my jersey all right. But I was grumbling about not having an actual Sharks t-shirt in my collection. And then during the second intermission Sharkie was nice enough to throw me one. I knew all those years of basketball in school would come in handy eventually. I'm now the proud owner of a white cup playoff t-shirt, hooray!
Wow what a game, apparently the Sharks decided they'd actually like to show up and, you know, play. I love it when they do that. Though defensively there were several sloppy break downs, if Nabby hadn't been quite so stellar things could've gone the other way in a big hurry. And can I get a "Hell yeah!" for Korky? Do you suppose that counts as an "almost hat trick" too? :)
On a negative note, I have to say I lost all respect for the Flames players and the fans after their behavior in the final period of the game. Part of being a fan or a player is realizing that sometimes your team is going to lose. You may not be happy about it, but you don't throw tantrums or punches or bottles of beer. I used to have trouble boo-ing the team, but I don't think I will henceforth. Both team and crowd alike behaved like spoiled children.
On the other hand it made our team and crowd's behavior after game two's spanking look really good in comparison. I will be fascinated to see just how ugly the next game is going to get.
