First and foremost:
GO SHARKS!
There now, that's out of my system. What a game! The only thing that could've made it better was if dear Patty had scored that empty netter. But he got a hat trick on Saturday so no complaints from me. Bye-bye Blues.
Missed the second period of the game taping "Mad Mad House" for Aelf. The resident hottie "Witch" Fiona continues to piss me off. I still end up reading her blog every week, though, for behind the scenes stuff and she claims we're seeing only highly edited and not necessarily honest footage. I'm inclined to give her something of the benefit of the doubt, but she's still annoying. If either Eric or Loana wins the money I'm going to be so pissed. Though after last night's show my hatred of Loana has spiked up exponentially. Grrr.
But back to the family trip. So Big Basin Friday, then we hit Santa Cruz and Monterey on Saturday. My niece is a total daredevil, so she and Aelf went on the scarier rides while I took her on the carousel. I believe Aelf took pictures, but would do well to remember that she has to sleep sometime and I'm a great believer that revenge is a dish best served cold.
Ahem, at any rate far too much junk food was eaten and candy and toys purchased on the boardwalk before we took off for the aquarium. If you get the chance I highly recommend seeing the shark exhibit (though I was sad they didn't include any Sharks memorabilia, that would've rocked).
windrose while you're visiting you should definitely try to get down there and see it, trust me you won't want to miss it.
The trip in both directions was actually quite pleasant and the traffic moved right along for the most part. We got back a bit late, but stopped over at the Blue Mango for yet more Thai takeout (I think I've eaten Thai at least 5 times in the past two weeks) and then I showed Aelf and my sis the Rankin & Bass "Return of the King". Aelf was truly terrified that I could and did sing all the words to "Where There's a Whip There's a Way". I do consider this one of the movies that warped me as a child.
I think we also ended up playing the ROTK game a bit that night, though the real play was reserved for Sunday evening. We discovered that when you take the unlocked characters through Saruman's Tower they say a bunch of new and highly entertaining quotes. Frodo's "I will take you!" elicited the expected response from me, "Oh yes, please do!"
missjones and I managed to discover the dual player mode and had far too much fun with it. By the time they left Tuesday evening she and I were two levels from completing the game. Her playing Legolas and me with Aragorn made for a devastating team.
A bit on the trip to SF on Monday later.
