"My body is a roadmap of pain!"
Nov. 3rd, 2003 08:48 amOr something to that effect.
Very nice relaxing weekend, which is precisely what I wanted. Friday night (Halloween) there was much pumpkin carving, followed by a reasonable amount of handing out of candy to the little ones. Aelf noted that I spent a little time talking to the kids and asked, "So you're supposed to talk to them?" I replied that it was not a requirement of the process, but that I enjoyed it. She just blinked at me.
Got one older trick-or-treater who came to my door sans costume. He took the last Pez dispenser and laughed when I asked if he was dressed as a "bike courier". If he wanted to earn more candy he would've said he was Jim from "28 Days Later" just before the accident.
All the kiddies packed it in by 9, which gave me time to get cleaned up and set up for a ritual. I was sitting in front of my altar getting things ready and the cats ambled in. Kage crouched down to my left, and Pye to my right, and both watched everything I did with utter fascination. I couldn't help smiling, two familiars are even more fun that one. Pye got bored early on, but Kage always watches every ritual carefully and won't leave until I release the circle. She has excellent manners.
Felt all accomplished and grounded by the end of it, then watched a few horror shows before calling it a night. Would've gotten to sleep earlier if Pye hadn't discovered his little plastic bouncy ball's location and started playing with it on the hardwood floor. I swear, if we could harness the energy of that cat into some kind of generator we'd need never worry about blackouts again.
Saturday there were many errands, and then a house full of folks for scary movie night. We ended up watching "Pitch Black" (hooray!) and "The Frighteners" (yay!), and I got a lot of crafting done, which made me feel like maybe I'll have one or two projects done by Xmas. Maybe.
Sunday consisted of volunteer work, and then yardwork, and then a great deal of nothing for most of the rest of the day. Did get to see 28 Days Later again and watched the alternate endings. All I can say is *yawn*. I was expecting something much darker, but instead..eh. If you're interested in knowing any of the 3 endings let me know, or wait until Blockbuster takes the movie off the two day rental shelf, that's my suggestion.
Also had time to watch my other HK saga, "Musa", which was nowhere near as pretty as "Hero", nor quite as entertaining. Though it did have a badass slave boy with a spear who was dubbed "Mr. Hat" until we figured out his name (Yeosol). Who "Musa" is, we still don't know. Anyhow, the film had some good stuff going for it including Zhang Ziyi, great early Chinese weaponry, and a fantastic Mongol seige on a small fortress. The other thing it had going for it was a complete inability on our parts to figure out what the hell was going to happen next. And the ending was quite a surprise. High gore content, though, as it aimed for more gritty realism and almost no wire work was involved at all. I'd rate it quite good, but not great.
Tonight is class for the first time in a week. I haven't danced at all in the past 6 days and man am I going to pay for it tonight!
