But it's Swiss!
Oct. 9th, 2003 08:31 amThat one's for Aelf, she knows why.
The commute to my new office is quickly draining the life out of me. When our lease is up we must try and find a place a little closer to Palo Alto to live. It'll suck ass when it comes to getting down to south SJ for Alyne's class, but not having to do the same stupid commute every day back and forth from work to home would be so nice. I hate having an hour and a half of my life devoted to driving, I really do.
Swung by Ariake's for sushi last night. Mmm. I usually get about five rolls and then have enough for dinner and lunch the next day. There is nothing like getting two meals for about $7. And oh their sushi is so good. Probably shouldn't let this turn into a habit, though, I'd hate to become addicted and then go into withdrawal when I visit back home.
Got some more crafting done while we watched the next 3 episodes of SG. "Window of Opportunity" was fun in the same way that "Been There, Done That" was on Xena. It also made my twisted little brain start functioning in much the same way as the Xena episode did. Bad Ellie.
Really enjoyed "The First Ones", both for lots o' Daniel time (mmm, pretty, pretty Daniel) and for my favorite recurring alien on the show, the Unas, Chaka. And yes every time I hear his name my brain kicks into "I Feel For You" ("Chaka Khan, let me rock you, let me rock you, Chaka Khan..") Still great actor and a fun role, you can tell he really enjoys himself with it.
Played a bit more GS. Vanquished the big bosses at the Jupiter Lighthouse and got that puppy lit. Was rejoined by four party members from the first game, then went looking for goodies and djinni I'd missed.
elo_sf, just for your info I think I'm up to about 47 djinni at this time. My current faves are Petra, Shade and Torch, though the one that puts the spirit of death on your enemies is pretty cool too. And my ship now has wings so I can fly over distances, which is cool, though I found a town with a spare cannon lying about, and if I can figure out how to take out a wall with it I think they'll give it to me for my boat. Heh, flying and armed, baddies best stay out of my way *G*
BTW, the latest issue of Play Station Magazine has a special on the RotK game, and includes a CD with trailers and such for it and a bunch of other games. The Monster Hunter one looks fabulous, I might just have to give it a try, and RotK is, well, gorgeous. And get this, you can play through the game with either Aragorn and his posse, Gandalf, or Sam and Frodo. Can you guess which I'd do? I can already hear myself in the backroom growling, "Get...your...filthy...Orc claws off of my Frodo!"
Holiday shopping and crafting is proceeding on schedule, I may just have the bulk done by October 31 after all, go me!
Oh and anybody planning to do the Tuesday Trilogy of LOTR in December? If so here are the details:

Neil writes: I spoke to the Century 20 at Oakridge in San Jose, and they had no idea they were even hosting the triology. We had to check their books for them and sure enough, there it was. Seems most theaters are left in the dark on this! The theater said that tix will be available on Fandango on Oct. 9. They did some research and found that about a week before the event Fandango will allow people to reserve the seats that they want so to avoid a huge camp-out fest. Just an FYI for those Bay Area people. This is unconfirmed. Just from one of the employees at the theater.
Anybody want to join me?
