I feel rather lame for having little if nothing to report from a pretty quiet weekend when it sounds like big things were happening to a lot of folks. (BTW, congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] filidh and [livejournal.com profile] nimiriel!) On the other hand sometimes a low key weekend is awfully nice. I'm going to be seriously missing having one from the 20th on this month.

Anyway much gaming Friday evening wherein my hunky Vesten warrior glistened beautifully and managed to work "rim job" into an in-game conversation. I've been wanting to do that for ages. And it really was nice to play outside under the stars for a change, though I seemed to have been the only one dressed for it, oddly enough. Usually I'm the one shivering in the cold.

Saturday was "Gee, I should go out and spend a lot of money" day, wherein the Aelf and I did some serious shopping. Many craft supplies were purchased, and we indulged in some pretty dance things at The Magic Camel. I got this gorgeous peach/copper burned velvet hip scarf and then got Aelf an early Xmas gift as there was a matching blue/green one. She indulged in a set of veils that the seamstress who mades all the clothing there has offered to alter for her into half circles. Being right next door to the Chinese bakery we love so, necessitated a stop there as well. Mmm, lemon custard pastry...

Got home and organized all our stuff, took care of some household chores, and then collapsed to watch the new version of Nicholas Nickelby. Quite good really, I may pick up a copy of it at some point. If nothing else watching Alan Cumming do a Highland Fling is well worth the price of admission. Unfortunately I was flattened by another sinus headache of migraine proportions and so made an early night of it. Still, getting a good deal of sleep and waking up refreshed at 8:30 on Sunday was not a bad thing.

Way too many kittens at the shelter this weekend, and far too many that had the tag "dumped" on their kennels. I just don't understand how people can do that. At any rate, if anyone is even contemplating adding a feline to their home please attend one of the kitten adoption fairs held every Saturday at the Menlo Park train station. There are some drop dead gorgeous animals waiting for homes.

Zoomed home afterwards and got the front lawn mowed, the floors swept and mopped, and then took a quick shower before [livejournal.com profile] mister_sunshine arrived to watch "Equilibrium". It's a low budget flick, but for my money far more entertaining than the two Matrix films that are out. Also chock full of B level British actors, which made me very happy. I recommend it.

Afterwards I finally got to show Aelf "Very Bad Things", which is a dark enough comedy that I always give viewers a warning before I show it to them. I was entertained by several times hearing, "OK, so that's it, right?" and then smiling, shaking my head and saying, "Oh no, it gets worse." I love that movie.

And aside from starting the remake of my costume that's about it. It doesn't get much more low-key than that.

Ok, yeah I'm back to obsessing over a bedleh set, but I'm not sure I can resist this peacock one, it'd go beautifully with my purple and green skirts, and work quite well with black too. And it would fit.

Also heard back from the seller, a different person over there this time who actually seems competent, who also sent me their homepage URL. http://www.neckelmanns.com/

They've got the original design I really liked:

But oh, this green one:

I'm just imagining the green with silver coins and chain...oh man. And they have headdresses too. Doom!
