Two steps forward...
Aug. 11th, 2003 09:25 amFirst, Aelf was kind enough to photo document the newest addition to our household:
( A glamour shot of Pye )
He's such a handsome fella', and he loves nothing more than cuddling with humans. Seeing Aelf finally get a cat she can hug and kiss to her heart's content is a true delight. He eats it up, whereas Kage would take your hand off for such behavior.
One funny story relating to him from this weekend and then I'll shut up (I know, proud mom, can't help it). He's spending most of his time in my bathroom because he just gets too wound up and overstimulated when given free run of the house. He needs to feel comfortable in the place a room at a time, which is cool. So Friday night I hadn't any place else to put him so had left him in the bathroom while I took a quick shower. He laid by the door and didn't seem to really care. Now last night I figure, ok, no need to get him wound up again, just leave him in here and I'll be in and out before he knows it.
Wrong.
For some reason last night he was convinced that the shower was going to do me *great harm* and flipped out. I'm talking to him the whole time trying to reassure him and thinking, "Ok, just make this fast!" Apparently I wasn't fast enough as his yowling went up an octave and I could tell he was really upset. So I'm trying to finish up when I hear the telltale thump and look up to find him staring me right in the face from the top of the shower stall. My first thought is, oh lord if he jumps on me I'm going to have scratches in interesting places. But he just sits there staring and yowling up a storm. I actually think he was concerned that the shower was going to harm me in some way. He wasn't upset for himself, but had to check and make sure I was ok. Once I got out and dressed and sat down to pet him suddenly all was right with the world again and he laid right down and relaxed like nothing had happened.
Have I mentioned he's a very strange cat? Good thing I really enjoy cats with "character". *sigh*
Anyway, far too little sleep this weekend, but I've been in worse shape on a Monday so I can't complain. Did get in some good dance time for which I feel rather proud. My two big concerns for the week are sufficient dancing and work with Pye, everything else may go on a bit of a backburner for a while. Sunday up in the city seeing Phantom will be the one exception to that. Starting to get very excited about it already, I'm such a theater nut it's not even funny.
Our scaled down Craft Night was pretty relaxing and low-key which was just what I needed that evening. And Sunday between the volunteer work, dancing, and cleaning up the bathroom after Pye I felt accomplished and a bit physically tired, but good. I always feel better when things are put back in order, and having the time to do so was a refreshing change. And getting to see
jakejr always puts me in a better frame of mind.
May be performing tomorrow evening at a senior center, hopefully we'll find out at class tonight. Aside from that my week is refreshingly clear and open and I mean to keep it that way!
