Have you ever been so tired that you just wanted to cry? I think I'm about as close to that state as one can get and still remain upright. My horoscope for today assured me that my productivity was going to be in the toilet. I would have to agree with the stars on this occasion.
Still, while I've been too busy to do things like sleep and clean my house, I've been thoroughly enjoying my sisters' visit. Menara was a lot of fun last night, though our party of 6 was by far the biggest and most vocal in the place. It was almost like a private party or something, and Una seemed delighted to have some familiar faces there.
silkblade and
senatorhatty rounded out the group, and while the two of them enjoyed the "Dinner Menara", the rest of us indulged in the vegetarian option. Our waiter was incredibly cool and got the kitchen to make our Bastilla vegan so my sis could enjoy it too. They ran out of figs and ended up using apricots instead, which was an interesting change. Overall I like the figs better, but it was still quite yummy. Makes me want to try my hand at one again. We also found out the yummy 'tater balls are vegan and we inhaled the entire plate full in a matter of seconds.
At some point in the evening all of us were pulled up to dance except my sis Leah, who vehemently declined. There was much clapping and laughing and many photos were taken. I think we ended up finishing dinner around 9 as Una came over and joined our party for the last half an hour or so over baklava and mint tea. Mmmm, mint tea.
Ahem.
Anyway, I stepped on the scale this morning and decided that the first order of business after my sisters take off on Saturday is to start moving more and eating less again. I know, I know, a couple of pounds doesn't seem like that much, but on me it's noticeable and I don't like it. I was just starting to feel good about the new, healthier, sleeker me, and I want to get back to that.
So, no more eating out for a while, and Saturday I take on my jungle of a backyard. I swear I can hear monkeys in the peach tree. I've got nothing against monkeys, but I don't want them in my backyard.
Speaking of the yard, one of my favorite purchases in LA was KILLER SNAILS! I am not making this up, btw, they're real and I bought some! See they're natural predators of those fucking little brown garden snails. You know the ones who eat my plants (speaking of which, my broccoli seedlings are now no more, gah!), leave disgusting trails everywhere, and crunch underfoot disturbingly. Now I don't have to invest in nasty chemicals or salts or copper, I can just let nature take its course. I only wish I'd gotten more of them, ah well, hopefully they'll be fruitful and multiply. Between them and the mantis eggs I invested in I'm hoping to go all natural in my pest control this year. Woo!
While I lost my broccoli my strawberries and nasturtium seem to be doing fine. I saved a good portion of KILLER SNAILS for the strawberries and hope they'll be happily patrolling the patch for some time to come. Which reminds me, I really need to water stuff tonight. Must...make...time...
Did I mention how tired I am? Thought so.
