And whiskers on kittens...
Mar. 6th, 2003 08:53 amI've decided to defy my horoscope for today. You see I generally check it every morning just to see what it's got to say, then think about it at the end of the day and see if I can find a correlation. Somedays it's downright scary how accurate it can be. But today it declared doom and gloom on an epic scale. To combat what might be a self-fulfilling prophecy, I'm taking a few moments to consider a number of my favorite things.
First and foremost, I want to thank the folks who drop me an email on a daily basis...sometimes multiple times per day. You know who you are, and I hope I've expressed my gratitude to you guys before, but just in case. Thank you, really, I can't tell you how much it means to me to see that you really do care and you really are interested. It may sound kinda silly, but I'm a Gemini, and we wither and die without communication and contact; so in a way you're kind of my own personal sunshine.
Second, everybody who takes time out of their busy day to read what weirdness I'm going to post here on LJ, another big thanks. And even if you comment just to tell me I'm full of shit, I adore you anyway. *G*
Third, I have the most fantastic roommate in the world. Sometimes I wonder if we weren't seperated at birth. We both have our own lives and interests, but so many areas overlap that we can enjoy a great deal of it together. I've not only gained a great person to live with, but an honest to goodness friend, and that is a rare and wonderful thing.
Fourth, my pal John, who comes out to see me. Not really to visit California or get away from the weather back home, but to see me. The fact that we can spend a week talking to each other and still not run out of things to say never fails to amaze me. However, the next time he visits and again picks a 6:30 a.m. flight back I'm going to kick his ass }:)
Fifth, this wonderful article I found by Roger Ebert of all people, reminding us all why the seperation of Church and State is such a swell thing:

Sixth, really enjoying the following article first thing this morning:
'Any fool can make war. Peace requires greater vision and courage'
Seventh, dancing! My main reason for taking care of myself this week so I can shake this cold, is to be healthy and whole for class Sunday and Monday. For the first time since I was a kid I feel like my mind and body aren't enemies, rather cautious allies. I feel whole and one again, rather like I did when I was running around my yard, climbing trees and jumping off swingsets. In a way, I guess, it makes me feel kind of young again.
Eighth, my cold's a bit better. A good night's sleep, vitamins, and a little self TLC has made a world of improvement. A few more days and I think I'll have shaken this entirely.
I'm sure there's lots more to be positive about, but that seems like a damn fine list for today.
