This is just what I needed to start my week right:
Mardi Gras Lij. He kinda looks like the Pope a little in that get-up, doesn't he? Also looks about 12 again. And here's another absolutely adorable shot: Have some beads. Is it wrong to admit that I probably would've done grievous bodily harm to anyone between me and those beads had I been there? Yes, it probably is.

And this one's especially for my sis ([livejournal.com profile] enuffistoomuch), but Aelf and [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano should get it too:

Motto for "The Top Of The Wall" level in the ROTK game:

"Sons of Gondor - of Rohan - my Brothers; GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!"

Anyone who's played the game will understand.

Lessee, what happened this weekend? Mmm, Friday night was gaming with an entirely new set of characters in the 7th Sea world, which was delightful. I got to play the pale, waifish Highlander in this one and [livejournal.com profile] caredhel was the beefy "muscle", so we were both a bit weirded out by the exchange of roles. It was weird playing a brainy character after so many months of "Hav smash!", and oh my god the number of dice I had to roll was obscene. Still managed to flub spectacularly on at least one occasion. Ok, make that two, so my character ended up as damsel in distress, which was fine by me.

Speaking of which,

Ok, so I was way annoyed with the attempt to swerve fans in the teasers for this week's episode. I mean I already knew who was dead so I just shrugged that bit off. But the fact that most of the episode continued the rather retarded attempt at a swerve really annoyed me. I just kept muttering, "Jack's not dead, I know he's not dead, I know it's Janet so just fucking stop it!" Did like the Daniel stuff in this one, though, and the fact that he was right there with Janet when she went to that Big SG Project in the Sky. And the fact that Daniel actually talked about having died himself was nice too. I almost thought he and the writers had forgotten about that bit. On the other hand I hated the Jack/Sam scene where it seemed for a moment she'd forgotten all about her annoying new beau Pete (oh we should be so lucky) and was going back to mooning over Jack. I nearly threw something at the t.v. *sigh*

Saturday was oh my god busy, with errands and more errands. I went on a shopping spree that actually embarassed me after the fact. But I did get a CD-RW drive that I've been dying for, got it hooked up and working properly with my regular DVD drive (hooray!). Now I want to get some good music editing software, and I need to figure out how the software that came with it works. But the test run I did of it worked perfectly, so that's all good. Also hit Mystique for a bunch of clothes I didn't really *need*, but oh how I wanted them. There goes the rest of my tax return, ah well. Hit the grocery store and Target, then ran home and cleaned the house pretty thoroughly (though I'll do a better job after our guests leave), even mopped, go me! Decided to opt out of the hafla as I was just too exhausted to move by the end of the day. Ended up curled up under an afghan and a pile of kitties.

Did dye my hair a darker shade of "honey blonde" so now it doesn't go from dark to really, really light at the ends. Though the ends are still lighter. I did learn an important lesson about dying one's hair while it is quite long. The lesson was, don't do it. If I ever talk about doing this again while my hair is this length or longer please feel free to call the men in white with the butterfly nets. Ye gods what a pain in the arse.

Sunday consisted of remembering I'd forgotten to return the Blockbuster videos of last week and zooming up to MV to do that a day late (d'oh!), then getting a Jamba cause I was there (anybody tried that chocolate covered cherry one yet?), and hitting the drug store for some odds and ends. Then home again to work on crafting. Allowed myself to skim a few DS9 eps from S3 that I'd been waiting incredibly impatiently for. Can't wait until we can launch into "The Search" this week!

Took a nice hot bath, but it didn't help me sleep at all I'm afraid. This was exacerbated by both cats being clingy and wanting to sleep on my bed. It wouldn't be a problem if the two could just ignore each other, but that's just not possible. There is nothing like having a constant low level of tension while you're trying to sleep because you're not sure when your bed is going to erupt in violence. Here's hoping that Aelf's return today will help alleviate some of it...

Well, you know, Pete was recovering in the infirmary.

Maybe, since Janet croaked, Pete took a turn for the worse. Or maybe he just accidentally brutally cut his own head off while shaving.

Hope springs eternal, right?

Oh I could not be so lucky. But doesn't that scene kinda cancel out her whole walk down mental lane episode wherein she said "I'm putting Jack in the 'no pining' box." and promptly went out to find her a man? Er, well have her brother hook her up with one anyway. This season is quickly becoming far too frustrating.

Watch out for palmetto bugs!

Heh, I really dug the Mardi Gras pictures...seems oddly fitting that he should be the Bacchus King! Looks like he wasn't stingy with the beads...you realize that you can practically touch them on the floats right...Harry Connick Jr. and Glenn Close were kind of light on the bead-age when we were there!

I have always been partial to the Orpheus parade myself...the trick with that one was to station yourself in front of Anne Rice's house on St. Charles Ave and then the King float would just unload practically all of its beads and booty right there in honor of the wacky Dame Rice.

Makes me oddly NOLA nostalgic...but then I remember the BUGS, THE HEAT, THE TOURISTS, THE VOMIT, THE PUBLIC SPITTING, and the almost daily terror-inducing run-ins with "THE NEIGHBOR".

Nice place to visit...

When my hair was really long, I used a really big clippy thing to hold it up while the dye set. It worked pretty well. The dye I used was kind of gel-y so I didn't have to worry about runoff.

Why, yes. I remember wanting to scream that myself as Legolas and I fought across the wall. Then I just say screw it and let the orcs have them. :)
