I'm sure there are one or two people out there wondering, "Say, just what does Ellie want for the holidays this year anyway?" Well, I thought I'd make friends' shopping a little easier this year by just coming right out and pointing to the things nearest and dearest to my heart:

A really cool prop. Nothing gives this girl a warm glow like fake rusted iron! If you could include a live, accident prone, adorably wounded Daniel with them, you'd definitely win for best gift this year!

The Return of Sherlock Holmes Collection. This is kind of a dual-purpose gift as it'd not only make me very happy, but would keep Aelf from killing me for getting her hooked on the series and only having the first set. If you value my life, this would be just the right thing this year.

And aside from that, peace on earth and goodwill towards men (and women) would make me very happy indeed.

And now on with the show. Had a rather lazy, but productive evening craft-wise. Didn't have much of a choice really as Kage claimed my lap and looked so cute I had a hard time moving her. Coupled with the crafting were the final 4 episodes of the Holmes DVD boxed set, "The Norwood Builder", "The Resident Patient", "The Red-Headed League", and "The Final Problem". The latter created quite a stir with poor Aelf who wasn't terribly familiar with the stories:

A: "So he's dead?"
E: "Well Doyle *wanted* to kill him off, yes..."
A" "This is the last episode then?"
E: "Not exactly."
A: "There are more stories after this?"
E: "Oh yes, quite a few more."
A: "But he went over the falls, how could he possibly come back from that?"
E: "Well nobody *saw* him go over the falls."
A: "We did, right now."
E: "That was just 'dramatization' of what Watson *thought* happened."
A: "Oh. So they explain what really happened in the next one?"
E: "Yes, though I will warn you it stretches the limits of plausibility."

Hey, Victorian era heroes don't need plausible explanations for their return from the dead. Indeed quite the opposite, the more florid and improbable the better.

Got to bed much later than I'd intended and slept rather poorly. So poorly, in fact, that all my back and neck muscles are stiff and sore and I've got the equivalent pain of a spike being struck through the lower left of my skull. Seems to be loosening up a little, but I expect it'll get worse as the day goes on. *sigh*

Oh, before I forget, could those wishing to see "Hero" let me know when would be a good time to gather together to watch it? Just chime in with an appropriate evening/hour and I'll see what I can arrange.

This weekend (11/7-9) is good except for Saturday night; next weekend, I think only Sunday (11/16) is good.

Can I still value your life even if I don't get it for you? :)

Well, would you be willing to stand between Aelf and I should she attempt to throttle me because I don't get a copy?

I'm attempting to get a final word on whether there will be StarGate eps on Sunday, if not that could definitely be do-able.

hey!

I would in no way take it out on you like that! Driving you insane with questions and curiousity and impatient jumping around, maybe, but that'd be purely coincidental to my own madness. ^_^

For me, this weekend is full up with birthday fun. Next weekend is full up with going to Orycon fun. Maybe I could borrow your "Hero" sometime?

Although, at the rate Chrisber and I watch videos these days... We've still got all of Cowboy Bebop to get through. Le sigh. Too much life, not enough video watching time.

Would a weeknight work better? Wednesdays are often quite do-able. If not, will your DVD player handle VCDs all right? I can dump it to tape for you if you'd prefer.

If you want to do it on a Wednesday, I could incorporate it into my regular Movie Night, and just expand the invite list. It's not as if anyone but [livejournal.com profile] tavella shows up regularly.

That works, though we'll have to host if you guys want to see it in its original format. Not sure if I'll have time to dump it to tape before Wednesday. Any other for or against votes?

You and I may not agree on anything political, but as long as you keep saying things like this we'll always be friends. :)
