My initial fears for Kage's state of health have declined, however, now it's her state of mind that has me worried. If she were a person I'd swear she was clinically depressed at the moment. She's not eating much, spending most of her time sleeping, moving as little as possible, and doesn't seem particularly interested in interacting with her monkeys. Meanwhile Pye is being an uber-shit and raiding her food rather than eating his own, ripping his collar off every night, and doing everything in his power to annoy her in general.

Not sure quite what to do about this, I mean our house is reasonably large, but apparently not quite large enough to accomodate an energetic teenager and a curmudgeonly matriarch. Suggestions welcome.

Got a lot accomplished last night including yardwork, general cleaning, and sweeping, Swiffering, and mopping the kitchen and front living room floors. Also got a bit further in GS2, beating the mini-dragon bosses in the Mars Lighthouse. The battle was a bit of a let down after taking on the Star Magician (took me 3 tries before I could crow, "Say my name, bitch!" to that boss), but it's always fun to kick Agatio and Karst's butts. It helps that I spent some serious time to backtrack and get an uber-cool sword for my second toughest fighter. Having both Excalibur and the Sol Blade rocks.

Then I got in half an hour of dance time and realized just how far I am from being ready to do any kind of improv of my own. Yeesh. Still, it's better to know that than to be surprised by it after I agreed to do something like that. And oh my zill work has gone straight to hell. Finger cymbals, why have you forsaken me?

Took a nice long shower and then got my bills paid, which always makes me feel better. Then the reality of the fact that I was going to be losing my roommate in a few months time hit me and I started pondering the future. The mere concept of having to pack all my shit up and move again was almost enough to make me burst into tears. Added to the idea that finding an equally amiable, well matched and wonderful roommate was going to be next to impossible...and, well, it ended the evening on a somewhat sour note.

I figure I'll start the packing and purge task after my familys' visits are over. So March basically, and this time I'd like to hire movers again as it's so nice not to have to deal with that whole thing. But finding a place is not going to be pleasant, even if the market is better than it's ever been since I moved out here. *sigh* I'll think about that in March, for now "Project Move More Eat Less" seems to be going well so far, but if anyone knows of a good place to lay my hands on fairly inexpensive exercise equipment please let me know.

Cats: I have no helpful suggestions.
Exercise equipment: Craigslist would be my first suggestion.
Moving: I'm especially willing to be helpful finding/packing if movers are going to do all the lifting and carrying. I'm also pleased that I can interpret your post to not say "Fuck this I'm going back to New York where it's sane. er."

In a weird twist, this also hit me (on your behalf) sometime since last night. I am really hoping you find a good place to live, either a single or another good roommate.

Could you put a door between the two cats? Give one of them a litterbox and food/water bowl in another area, and just keep them apart for a while? Give her a vacation from him?

I suppose we could give it a try, at this point I'm willing to see if it'll work. I do want to see if I can coax her outside for a few hours each night. She seems to enjoy having time to herself without having to deal with him.

I think unless I fall into an equally lucky roommate find I'm going to look for my own place next. And up north here too, in Mountain View if I can swing it. I'm sure I'll be begging folks to keep an eye out for nice places in the area next spring.

Keep in mind that it probably won't be until the fall that I'll be going anywhere, and we may well have to move by that time anyway, if the stupid stupid renovations plan goes through. And I'll be right there purging and packing alongside you, at least, we'll encourage each other in stages. And I am sorry to be doing this to you, but hopefully we'll at least outlast the lease, and leave Bruce in the lurch, to boot. Assuming this mad plan actually goes through.

But really, this is what I'm going to be the most sad about, in the idea of leaving; you've been the best roommate ever, and losing that really sucks. No more practically-sister to talk about everything with, or geek about, well, everything with. No more dance space, no more dance partner. Possibly not even any more cats, since I'm not sure if I'll be in dorm or apartment, or if they'll be allowed, and they like you best anyway. ^_^ Friends I can keep in touch with and visit every so often, but the roommate situation will never be beat, and I think will be the biggest wrench. -_-

Would you be interested in a treadmill? Barely used. Make an offer.

Either or both of you can come stay with us for a bit if need be, though the pets would be tough...

I'm actually looking more for a rowing machine, but Aelf might be interested in a treadmill.
