Get thee to a nunnery
May. 29th, 2002 09:45 amThe idea of a quiet retreat for a few days is beginning to appeal to me greatly. Not that I can't just go home to a nice quiet apartment with the roomie gone, but being someplace else where all I have to do is sit and be sounds lovely. Too many emotions right now, and as much as I'd like to believe purchasemonkey's theory about sushi curing depression, I can't seem to right now.
I'm going to miss my friends! tersa, mallen, and princessmei are off to Mother Russia for weeks and weeks. I know they're going to have a wonderful, exciting time and probably never even think about me once while they're gone, but I can't help the fact that I'm going to miss them all hideously. Jealous? Mmm, maybe a bit of that, but also I think I just really profoundly enjoy their company and I'm sad to know I won't get to share it for a while.
Referring back to a rant a few weeks back, life is too short and too fleeting not to spend it with the people you care about. But, trying to look on the bright side for a bit I'm going to use this as an excuse to spend some time with some folks I don't get to see nearly often enough. I'm also going to openly invite any and all interested parties to sign up for belly dance class which starts again in a couple of weeks. Want to hang out with some really cool gals, learn something new, get some great exercise, and have an excuse to buy pretty, sparkly, jangly things? Then go immediately to Shira.net and check out info on the class. It's held right in Mountain View in the community building at Rengstorff Park. It's incredibly fun, exhilarating, and guaranteed to make you leave every class with a smile on your face. Come join us, you know you want to *G*
Also of note, We3, the fabulous belly dance costume store front has closed its doors, but they will be renting out studio space for dancers. If enough gals took the class and decided we all enjoyed it, it might be fun to rent the space for an hour or two and just hang out and dance. I can't tell you how enjoyable it is to just put on some music and move to it, very liberating too, and a great excuse to put on some wonderful costumes.
I'm also being lured into NERO, gods help me I swore no more cults this year!

Hie thee hence
Date: 2002-05-29 10:17 am (UTC)I'm sorry you're feeling blue, though I can certainly understand the lure of good solitary retreat. And I hope caredhel and I are on that list of friends you might get to see more often.

Date: 2002-05-29 02:25 pm (UTC)About sushi curing depression...Perhaps eating fish regularly can cure certain kinds of depression since I'm told that fish is a good source of vitamin B12.
May vigilant ninja gardeners prune and water your emotional landscape.

Date: 2002-05-29 02:54 pm (UTC)As for sushi, well for me it would have to be veggie sushi so I can't possibly get any fish-related anti-depressants I'm afraid *G*
And now that you mention it I bet ninjas would help my mood greatly, I should rent something ninja-related to watch tonight....
