Well I just watched the second season finale of Sherlock Holmes, "The Reichenbach Fall", their take on "The Final Problem" and as per usual I cried. Ah Martin, you are such an incredible Watson and damned if you didn't break me just as a Watson should at the end. For those who have seen it my comments section is open to speculation on how they're going to resolve this. I have an idea or two but would love to hear yours.

And [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf, thank you for watching with me and only laughing a little when I started bouncing and squeeing at that one point ;)

And now the long, interminable wait for season three...*sigh*

Is a third season a go?

I don't know. I just hope it involves John and Sherlock admitting their love for each other.

Martin Freeman is amazing as Watson, and this was one of his best performances yet.

I am completely baffled as to how Holmes pulled off his swan dive at the end. My money is that he worked out something ahead of time with Molly, though how they did it, I couldn't say. Guess we'll just have to wait until the next series to find out.

Yup:
Moffat's co-creator Mark Gatiss also wrote on Twitter: "Gotcha! And of course there'll be a third series!" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-16573066)

Well we did get, "Hold my hand!" which should undoubtedly launch a thousand 'ship fics ;) I'm just going to keep repeating the exchange between Irene and John through my head, "I'm not gay!" "I am. And yet here we are."

Yeah.

My first thought was that Molly made the call to John to get him to leave (like the innkeeper in the original story). But something occurred to me, they didn't follow up on the little girl screaming at Sherlock. Why did she scream? Because somebody looked an awful lot like him...so if Moriarty had, say some ice blue contacts and a wig...

Well, yes, it would kind of have to involve a replacement corpse disguised as Sherlock. I'm just wondering how the switch was made. I'm going to have to rewatch the ending again to see if I can figure it out.

Mmm, at least he had Molly to cover the autopsy part and Mycroft to cover everything else. But yeah his insistence that John watch him the whole time makes it tricky. The bike rider didn't hit him until *after* Sherlock fell...so yeah, I think I'll watch that bit again myself.
