Hey check it out, I've almost doubled my population since last week, go me!

National Flag
The Holy Empire of Artemisia

"Men? Men are weak."

UN Category: Corrupt Dictatorship
Civil Rights: Below Average Economy: Weak Political Freedoms: Outlawed

Location: the South Pacific

The Holy Empire of Artemisia is a large, devout nation, renowned for its compulsory vegetarianism. Its compassionate, cynical population of 40 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Religion & Spirituality and Defence are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 54%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Automobile Manufacturing.

Citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, vegetarianism is compulsory, it is illegal to make racist remarks in public, and euthanasia is legal. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Artemisia's national animal is the seahorse and its currency is the golden labrys.

Hmmm... "Artemisia wants you!", but "Men? Men are weak.". Are you sure they really want *me*?

renowned for its compulsory vegetarianism

So much for the soylent green. The cats will be quite happy about that (more for them).

The black market meat appears quite gone. It was a little easier to hide beef jerky than to hide the black market automobiles, though.

"Hey man, wanna car? It doesn't pass smog, and the carbon monixide's a great high when you're driving down the road.". Drive-thru euthanasia, anyone?
