First this week's Venture Brothers was just brilliant. "Viva los Muertos" gets two big thumb's up from me.
I did get some writing done though not nearly as much as I'd hoped. Spent way too much time watching Inuyasha episodes instead. Turns out I'd missed more of the middle-ish eps than I'd thought so it was fun to get a chance to fill in some gaps. The show is intensely serial in nature so a few major plot points and character development moments were nice to finally get to see.
Also finished up Samurai 7 which was entirely satisfying, and I got to watch it back to back with the original Kurosawa film. The anime went veering off in some slightly bizarre directions at times, but still remained surprisingly true to the original story. The end was pretty much shot for shot like the film, though the way they had the characters interact and grow was fascinatingly different. And the love interest didn't turn out at all like I'd expected. Plenty of twists and turns in the series, some truly satisfying battles, and just jaw-droppingly gorgeous animation.
