It looks like Prince may be appearing in San Jose June 1 of this year (though it's not confirmed yet), though looking at Ticketmaster, they're claiming it's not so. Grr. Signed up for a ticket alert as I'm so not missing him if he comes around here again.
Busy but good weekend. I think I'm glad I skipped Rakkasah on Friday as I was passing out by about 10 pm that night, and I got so much done by not going. I've actually started the serious organize and purge stage of what eventually will turn into packing for the move. This mostly focused on getting my hundreds of cds out of their jewel cases and organized into binders. Of course this now leaves me with hundreds of jewel cases. Anybody know if these things are recyclable?
Up early Saturday to grocery shop and then take Pye to the vet. He took a thorough look at Pye, checked him several times for parasites of any kind, and said his problem in all likelihood stemmed from one of two things. Either he's having an allergic reaction to something he's coming in contact with, or he's exhibiting a somewhat rare (except, apparently, in Siamese) neurotic behavior. In either case he gave him a steroid shot and said it should help if it's a matter of itching, and to keep an eye on his eating habits as steroids often increase appetite. So far the shot seems to be working, as he's back to normal grooming rather than "must lick all the fur off my hindquarters!" BTW, Aelf, I found all of Pye's toys, they were behind the fridge. I actually pulled the thing out and rescued them, much to his delight. He played with the bouncy ball for a good 45 minutes straight. It's his version of a kitty pacifier I think.
Drove up to SWM II and grabbed
cyranocyrano for our trip up to SF to meet
jakejr. I indulged in my first coffee in months and went from sleepy to wired in nothing flat. It was surprisingly hot up in the city, but not crushingly so. We all went up to Lush and I procured many things. The checkout gal picked up each item and asked, "Is this for you?" to which I either replied, "No, that's for my roommate" or "No, that's for my mom". She finally stopped and asked, "So is anything for you?" Indeed, I got myself some tea tree oil and a Sakura bathbomb (mmm, mimosa, jasmine and orange scent!).
We then strolled down to the Metreon and actually managed to make it to an earlier showing than expected. I liked the film but wouldn't recommend paying full price for it if you've got the option of a matinee. It was pretty nostalgic, though, and they certainly did their homework on the original series.
Met up with
elo_sf and
phillipalden for sushi down in RWC (mmm!) and then chatting afterwards. All in all it was absolutely a delightful day.
Sunday I slept in then did some quick errands before heading back home to tackle the backyard. I grabbed the shears, my weed whacker, and the lawn mower and I didn't stop until everything was done to my satisfaction. The yard now looks superb, if I do say so myself. Watered everything, and pulled weeds after the main bulk of the work was done. It took me about an hour and a half to get through it all, and I'd worked up quite a sweat by the end. Considering how bad I'd been calorie wise the day before, this was a good thing.
Came inside and showered, then did a little tidying up and some more organizing while I watched "Hairspray". Called home and talked to mom while I did a load of laundry, then vegged for a bit. After watching 60 Minutes and enough of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony to catch Prince put on one helluva show, I took a nice long bath in my Sakura-scented water, and held a wonderfully peaceful Ostara ritual.
By 9:30 I was ready for bed and promptly passed out. I believe that intense physical exertion is becoming my sedative of choice these days.
