That does it, I'm officially banned from listening to Michael Crawford cds on the way to work. Especially when he's covering Streisand. Dammit. But I did find the alternate lyrics to Music of the Night that I've been telling Aelf about, including one of my faves:

"Hearing is believing
Music is deceiving,
Hard as lightening, soft as candlelight.
Dare you trust the music of the night?"

I am such a musicals nut it's not even funny. And my wonderful mom is sending out all my old tapes so I can immerse myself even further while the mood is upon me. They should arrive by Labor Day weekend, three whole days I can spend listening to them *happy sigh*

Went shopping, made a library run, cooked dinner and got a bit of tidying up done before Aelf made it home last night. She brought with her the Mother of All Cat Condos, donated to us from House Avalon (thanks so much!!!), which Pye immediately claimed as his own. He managed to rip one of the mice off it within minutes, but thoroughly enjoys playing tetherball with the other. He nearly clocked me with it once, until I learned to stay well back when he gets going. We think we've figured out a place for it where it won't be near enough to anything to inspire jumping from the top area to, oh, say a bookshelf. But it's also out in the backroom so the monkeys can enjoy this secondary entertainment center. Ah, the things we do for our felines.

Tried to leave Pye out for the evening last night, but ran into certain snags due to Kage being a right royal pain in the butt. The girl has discovered that Pye's food tastes way better than her own, and like someone on goo suddenly given a whole box of freshly baked Krispy Kreme, she went a little nuts. I chased her out of his food no less than a half a dozen times last night and she kept sneaking in to steal more every time I turned my back. Finally she gave up and curled up on my bed with me, which was fine until Pye decided to use my bed as a springboard to get to my window. Mind you she was lying on my legs at the time that he did this, he jumped up about two inches from her. I had just a sheet and thin afghan to protect me.

Pye was tossed into the kitty dungeon (i.e. the bathroom) for the rest of the night.

Did get in some dance time last night and we seem to know where everything goes in "Tic, Tic", and that's a step in the right direction. It still feels way too rushed to me, but not having to think about what comes next means I can focus on making the movements better. The one that's really thwarting me at the moment involves this little hop with arms making a circle while you shimmy like a looney. Then you land, arms frame hips and you do two quick omis then two quick chest pulses. And when I say "quick" I mean "outrageously fast". I can feel that the movements aren't right and the best way to do it would probably be to spend some time just doing the move more slowly and then work it up to speed. Something to focus on tonight and this weekend methinks.

Mrph. I want to go see Phantom again before the touring company leaves but cannot justify the expense. Damn.

But I still have a job, and that's something, right?
