All I have to say about that.
Jun. 2nd, 2003 08:42 amExtreme summary time:
Friday- Life is about learning, that evening we learned that if you intend to attend a dance show at Straw Hat, especially one with live music, you'd damn well better get there at least an hour to an hour and a half early. Upside, got takeout pizza, went home and rented "The Transporter". Jason Statham needs to be in more films. And he needs to be shirtless...and covered in motor oil. Trust me on this.
Saturday- REALLY FUCKING LONG DAY. Got up later than intended but managed to accomplish one or two things, including baking two loaves of fruity bread (banana and orange/cranberry) and a loaf of rosemary bread to take to the hafla. Got dressed, ran our duet flawlessly, then off we went. Apparently we were one of the few to bring potluck-type stuff and the food was gone in like an hour or two. Our first performance was...interesting. I have to say my admiration for my roommate's courage shot up tenfold, she handled several critical veil failures with dignity, grace and calm. I hope that when something similar happens to me (and it will), I can be half as dignified. Hung out the rest of the evening and ended up dancing again with Alyne about 4 hours later. "Choukraine" was just about perfect and I'm pretty sure my screw-ups were subtle enough not to be really really obvious. Re-affrimed that Alyne is the coolest person ever as she kept grinning at all of us while she performed, made a few chatty comments while her back was to the audience, and then made sure we came out again with her after her set for a bow. We were damn proud to be her back up dancers (or "Supremes" as we were dubbed). (/hero worship)
Also watched Trading Spaces to see Hildi create design blasphemy on some poor couple's bathroom. There is a special plane of Hell set aside for her and Doug, this I know.
Sunday- Woke up groggy and also later than I'd wanted to. Ran to the bank and filled up the car and considered myself pretty much done for the day. Aelf and I met L- for Jamba and a movie. We'd intended to see X2, but the times online were wrong and we missed the beginning, so we went to see the Italian Job instead. Quite fun, and more Jason Statham...though, sadly not shirtless or covered in any kind of oil. }:(
Got back and felt absolutely awful, even more groggy, headachy and having a nasty allergy attack. Drank lots of liquid and laid down for a bit, but it didn't seem to help. Begged off of M-'s birthday dinner thing as I knew I wouldn't last much past dinner and remained supine and listless for most of the day. Had enough energy to fix some dinner and that was about it. Kage thought me being home was very cool and curled up with me despite the heat. Ended up watching a bit of "Russia: Land of the Tsars" and then this Chinese movie that was kinda vaguely similar to "The Ring". Only it had a happy ending. This screwed with my head on a variety of levels. Also entered semi-comatose state while watching "Enterprise". It wasn't horrible. Perhaps I was sicker than I thought?
More stifling heat today..huzzah.
A quick pre-emptive apology if I end up missing or ducking out early on social events just now. I feel drained, physically and emotionally and all I really want to do is curl up and be left alone. So, being on a sensibility kick that's what I'm going to do. Don't mean it as a slight or anything, and I will get back to everyone via email as soon as I can. But for now, in the words of the great Garbo, "I vant to be alone."
