Sorry if I was a bit of a whiney bitch on Friday, the hormone thing crept up on me last week and caught me entirely unawares and my wrist was really hurting. Of course it hurt more after I went to the doctor and he said, "Ok now I'm going to have to stick you with a really big needle." (the emphasis was his not mine). He kept repeating how really big the needle would have to be and waiting for a response. I just shrugged and said, "Ok, do what you have to."

Apparently the less pleasant means of dealing with a ganglial cyst is to jab it with a needle, shoot it full of cortizone, move said needle around making a nice big hole, removing said need and covering said hole with a piece of gauze and then pushing on it nice and hard. I then got a pressure bandage and a pat on the head for being very still and very quiet during the procedure. I was told that if it comes back again he'll drain it one more time, but after that it'll have to be surgery.

I'd like to avoid that at all costs, removing a cyst from the wrist area is fraught with dangers and complications and my right hand is just a wee bit too important to me to want to screw around with. Hopefully it won't come back. Hopefully.

Regardless, while I was there I got my left knee looked at too and by a vascular specialist no less. She said the thing on my knee didn't look like a vericose vein to her, rather a cyst perhaps. Another cyst. This would make three. Apparently my body likes to accumulate fluids in inappropriate places. *sigh*

Went back to work and attempted to put in a full day typing away and quickly realized this was a VERY BAD IDEA. By the time I got home the pain was radiating up my nerves and into my neck. My shoulders were tense and my head throbbing. A nice hot bath and getting to bed around 9:30 seemed to do the trick, though, and I woke up Saturday morning feeling better than I had in weeks. And I had my wrist back! There's still the slightest hint of a lump there but not like it was before and I can move it again, hooray!

Saturday was [livejournal.com profile] jakejr's birthday bash at Chez Femme II and I managed to gift her with a nice long full massage (thank you again, [livejournal.com profile] crobderg!) plus some silly little frog-related presents. [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene co-hosted, [livejournal.com profile] tersa whipped us up some amazing food, Aelf's friend A- joined us and then later on [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano popped by to partake and join in the conversation. My goal was a lovely, relaxing afternoon for a gal who works entirely too hard and doesn't take nearly good enough care of herself. I think I succeeded.

Got to see Spirited Away and I enjoyed it quite a bit. May go check out the dubbed version as well just to hear the differences in the voice acting. Still like Mononoke better, but the flick was quite good.

Yesterday was Ren Faire, but no morning class }:( We arrived around 12:30 and had to battle our way through the crowds a bit. I did get several compliments on my outfit, though (purple with a cute off the shoulders top and a long skirt), and got hit on a few times which allowed me to be either demure and shy or a saucy wench depending on my mood at the moment. It was awfully nice to feel attractive again, even if only for a few hours.

Ahh there was bellydancing, lots and lots of it and very good too. I kept watching the moves but being drawn down to the dancers' feet. I'm becoming obsessed with footwork. One of the dancers also had some of the best arm and hand work I've ever seen. I watched that too with a great deal of intensity. I want to be able to do that, I want to be able to do that a lot!

I was extremely good on both the diet and the spending money part. I had a nice veggie meal, a little iced chai and some lemonade all day at Faire. Considering the amount of walking around we did I think that's pretty decent. And I refrained from buying anything, despite some serious temptation at the perfumers' booths. Like I need any more scents.

At any rate, we stayed to watch Hahbi Ru's final performance of the day as we'd missed their first one, and then did a little more wandering so [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene and [livejournal.com profile] princessmei could do some much needed shopping. Then we got caught in traffic from hell and a one hour trip turned into two. Still, once we got past the 152 nightmare it was pretty smooth sailing so I can't complain too much. After some pics I showered off the layer of sweat and grime I'd accumulated and crawled into bed early. I was out like a light in about 30 seconds, a new record for me *G*

Guess that's about it, I must get back to my costume, it needs to be finished this week.
