Have you ever had one of those mornings that start out ok, then rapidly start going downhill? That's me today. I awoke right on time and to the beautiful sunshine through my window. Smiling, I climbed out of bed then proceeded to drop nearly everything I touched and stab myself with a kitchen knife while slicing a bagel.
I'm hoping this isn't the prelude to even worse things, rather that I'm cresting the hill and things will even out from here. Yeah, I'm still disgustingly optimistic.
Anyway, weekend update time. I got to spend far too little time with John during his visit this time and I think it left us both feeling a bit disappointed by the end of the trip. Friday night was cool, though, getting to watch some great HK/Japanese flicks over at aelf's place with him and cyrano. Though we all enjoyed "Tai Chi Master" I have to say the bizarro Japanese flick, "Versus" was far and away our favorite. I was asked to describe the film and the nearest I could come was "Imagine if Yakuza crime lords stumbled into 'Evil Dead' and a Japanese costume drama." That both sums it up and doesn't even scratch the surface of what this film had going for it. At points I didn't even feel cool enough to be watching it. Style was the key, and the characters just oozed it. Oh and the soundtrack seriously rocked.
Then Saturday we hopped in the car and hit Pancake House for breakfast (yum!) then just pointed the car and drove. Eventually we ended up at the ocean where many photos were taken. We both decided that we should've brought jackets as it was freezing! Still, the day was bright and clear and I got to play with my digital camera, which is always good. We then picked up the roommate for dinner at the Fish Market. Silly us, we thought we'd miss the majority of the Red Wings/'Canes game, but then again how were we to know they'd go into 3 overtimes? Wow what a game, almost five and a half hours! By the end of it I was seriously drooping and dragged myself off to bed.
Sunday started bright and early at 4:30 a.m. to get John to the airport on time. My airport fu remains strong as he got off without a hitch. Then I caught a little sleep, and grabbed Erik for some breakfast and long overdue chat. I then ran off to meet Aelf for househunting. The first place we looked at was exactly what we wanted. Pricey, yes, but I'm willing to pay $300 more for a big house with attached garage and huge backyard. It was so cool that it made up for the remainder of places being duds. I really hope we get this one!
And then there was the start of packing and organization. I need to buy some boxes tomorrow to get really organized and get the little stuff sealed up and ready to go. Then I'll save one or two for last minute stuff like utensils and such. Fortunately a good deal of my stuff remained boxed up from the two previous moves so it's just a matter of resealing them. Go me!
