Just watched the first episode of Torchwood season 3 and I'll be damned if I'm not hooked. Seriously, it was a good episode with enough twists and turns to actually surprise me once or twice. I liked the glimpses we got into the different branches of government and squeed like a school girl when a UNIT guy showed up.

But I must admit my absolute favorite element of the show had to be Ianto's sister and brother-in-law. I want them on the show every week. Watch the episode for them if nothing else. But I bet if you give it a chance you'll actually enjoy this one.

Of course they often have great season openers and then the stories start to stumble and finally by the finale you're just praying for the season to end...so I'm not holding out a whole lot of hope.

Also I thought SciFi changing its name to "SyFy" was dumb before they started beating us over the head with it. Now I think it's downright idiotic. And I'm waiting for Warehouse 13 to impress me. So far, not so good. Getting a definite Fringe vibe here :P

Meanwhile on rain-soaked Caprica

God why isn't it April 4th yet?!

Also I would like to publicly admit that I intend to watch this week's episode of Torchwood for one reason and one reason only...[livejournal.com profile] elo_sf tells me there's some Jack/Ianto groping. Yes, that is the one and only reason I intend to tune in. I am a sad, pathetic woman, I cop to that.

First and foremost, if you've got a few minutes you should fill this out:

Second, the first day amongst the unemployed has been pretty low key so far, applied to a couple of jobs and I've got still more insurance papers to fill out. Haven't heard back yet about the contract job but I did find a good position at Google I'd be well suited for. Not that I have high hopes about getting a foot in the door at Google, but it's worth a try. Already applied for unemployment so that's done, and my bank account should hold out for a month or two if necessary.

So things aren't too dire at the moment. I want to get a bit of housework done today, but aside from that and watching some SG-1 with [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano my day is pretty free. It's rather nice and relaxing really. I plan to enjoy it while it lasts.

Now a couple of things that will require cut tags:

First some thoughts on the latest episode of Torchwood )
And the latest episode of SGA: The Kindred II... )

Just a couple of things today, first the reaction to Scale of Dragon, Tooth of Wolf has been, in a word, overwhelming. One of my latest batch of comments included a reader saying she would rec the story as the one must-read in HP fandom. Wow...just...wow. It's a good thing I don't wear a lot of hats 'cause I'm quite sure my noggin' would be so swollen right now it'd never fit into any of them.

I've never considered myself a writer, still don't really, mostly because I just don't have the passion for it that I've had for other creative endeavors. And I'm incredibly lazy. When it comes to sitting down and actually putting all the stuff in my brain onto paper I balk. My self discipline just dribbles out my ears and I find myself doing ridiculous mental gymnastics in order to avoid just sitting down and getting the writing done.

But I can't seem to stop the ideas and I'm already plotting out a sequel to SoD, ToW that might be even bigger, grander, and way longer than the first. I'm just not sure I've got the stamina to pull it off. We shall see.

On a lighter note...I have just one question after watching the latest episode of Torchwood... )
