One more Alpha post

So with just a little looking around online I discovered that there's a wildlife rehabilitation place literally just down the road from me, and now I feel like a complete moron. Wildlife Rescue would've been the perfect place to take Alpha for the care he so obviously needed and I could've dropped him off there easily Tuesday morning.

But, instead of beating myself up further about this, I'm going to see this as a great opportunity to help out this organization and maybe save a few other lives in the process. I'm going to see what I can do to help them out with their wishlist of items they need, and of course donate myself. If I can be useful on a volunteer basis I'm all theirs as well. They might even have some baby squirrels on hand I could help care for.

I wanted to share this with everyone for a couple of reasons, one, so that it might inspire you to look up your nearby animal rescue groups and if you should find a critter in need, take it immediately to the professionals. And two, if anybody is wondering what I'd like for my birthday or Christmas this year, this is it, make a donation to this group, or if you're living elsewhere, to one locally in my name. That would be the best gift ever!

That's a wonderful idea! And I'm sure they'll be very happy for whatever time you care to donate. Groups like that are chronically short on staff as well as money.

And their wishlist is chock full of easily acquired stuff I could donate. The Pedialyte thing is really kicking my ass, if I'd thought to feed that to Alpha I might well have saved his life. Who knew it worked for dehydrated squirrels as well as for dehydrated kids?

{{{Hugs}}} You know now, and that's the important thing. And just think of all the other cool stuff you'll learn if you do volunteer work there.

Definitely, it's giving me a much better way of looking at his loss, and I appreciate that more than I can say.

:) I can do that for Christmas. I have other plans for your birthday, however.... ;)

In fact, by that point I could probably walk it over there. :D

Coincidentally enough, the Phoenix Register (of which I was the editor for almost six years) ran a page-length story yesterday on a wildlife rehabilitation place less than 10 miles from here. Great article, full of information including a wish list and phone number. I can post that info for anyone local who's interested.

Please do, that'd be really cool if we could all post some info here about these groups who don't tend to get as much publicity.

That was so cool of you, hon, thank you!

I also just noticed that if you purchase from Amazon by using the Amazon link on their website, 5% of your purchase goes to them. Not too bad, I'll keep that in mind for all future Amazon purchases. :)
