So, whatcha' got in that poodle gun?

Here's hoping the guy who did this comes back in his next life as a cockroach.

In ROTK news, the fourth ANNUAL CINEMARATI AWARD NOMINATIONS are apparently up and the nominations are plentiful. I'm fascinated by the song that ended up nominated from the soundtrack. I've gotta' agree with their choice, though, "Steward of Gondor" is an amazing piece and used possibly more effectively than any other I've seen in any film, well...ever really. Go, Billeh, go!

Hopefully the tape I set up to catch the Making of ROTK special on Bravo last night (well technically at 12:15 this morning) worked. Got to see Lij on the Daily Show last night and was very pleased. He's so adorable even if he does look about 12 years old. *sigh*

Got some more work done on my drawing and so far I'm pleased with the results. Whether or not I remain pleased is another discussion entirely, but having the basic stuff plotted and penciled in is a good start. The image also requires text, which is something I hate to do above all else, but in this case I will just suck it up and deal.

In unrelated news I slept very badly last night (and given how tired I was yesterday this is not such a good thing) and spent most of the night waking up from one nightmare after another. The last one that Pye actually woke me from was the worst. Not scary, just deeply and profoundly disturbing. I mean it was the kind of gorey imagery that makes me think my subconscious is a very scary place indeed. I don't even like thinking that I could come up with such stuff. It's probably a good thing that I am actually aware of and retain so few of my dreams. *shudder*

I absolutely adore that song. That and "The White Tree" are the ones which keep getting stuck in my head on loop, but especially the vocal piece. I loved the fact that John Noble said that he cried when he heard Billy singing during that scene.

I've always said that if I thought it was a good idea to remember whatever I dream about, I would.
At this point, though, I'm taking other people's word on it that I actually do dream.

This is one of the reasons I work digitally. Perfect baselines and lots of font choices! :D

And you are very wise for doing so, sadly I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to my art.

Luddite by choice or by circumstance?

Choice I guess. The process of making art to me starts and finishes with my hands, a pencil or pen, and paper. Probably another of my many control issues, I like making my fingers do just what I want them to to express an idea as close to what's in my head as possible. I like feeling the pencil on the surface of the paper, the little rubbery bits of eraser when I make a mistake, just a bunch of little things that I don't think I could easily replicate if I worked digitally. If that makes any sense.

What about when you're finished with the process of making art for a particular piece?

I don't mind scanning my stuff and making them available digitally but I've never been big on doing anything beyond that to them. My "art" is still the thing I've got in my hands, not the image I see up on the screen. And as for this piece it won't be "done" until I put the text on.

What technique do you use to apply your text?

Usually I just pencil in some guide lines and then write it in. Not sure quite what script I want to use for this one, though, I'll need to ponder that for a bit.

hmmmm

Whatcha drawing? You know I am always more than interested when you start putting pen/pencil to paper. :)

Robbing and stabbing a monk - very bad karma

Like you, my first reaction is string the guy up by his toes. But then I thought about what the monk would want, and I'm glad we don't have a Buddhist justice system yet. I think it would be great right after they convict that guy.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.
