You never hesitate to tackle the most difficult problems

That was probably the most accurate fortune I've ever gotten from a cookie in my life. Perhaps less a fortune than a statement of fact, and a pretty apt summation of my existence to date. Although most people would probably say "You always have to do things the hard way." I like the fortune better.

Ok, first let me post a link to my pics from Saturday evening's PEERS costume ball (www.ebonlock.com/2002_0504), which was absolutely lovely. We all looked ravishing and I think everyone had a very good time. Aelf enjoyed herself immensely and seems to have found her calling in life...Morris Dancing. I shit you not, and the quote of the evening was definitely, "They get to bounce...and beat each other with sticks?! I have to learn this!" The effervescent Megs scored us a flyer for their little organization. Bay Area Morris dancing, who knew.

I also got to meet the bubbly "T" who even managed to lure me out on the dance floor once (just once) and kept us highly entertained throughout the evening. That man can dance! And his Dr. Evil impersonation nearly did me in. Belgium!

Though I didn't have much to do at Team in Training earlier that day, I'd managed to get some reading done and spend some time talking to a very sweet woman who was also volunteering. I also got to play with her little dog, a Whippet whose name escapes me. It was a very calm animal, unlike most dogs its size, and very affectionate. The dog and the book kept me awake until elo_sf finished his walk, at which point we took off and grabbed some much needed Jamba. Then we met up with princess_mei to go pick out fabric for his kimono. She took us to Thai Silks, which is disturbingly close to my bank branch. This I did not need to know. Still, we found a gorgeous fabric that is going to look stunning on him, I can't wait to see the finished product!

What else? Oh yeah, Spiderman with jake_jr after we got back. I liked the movie, didn't love it, but then again the webhead was never one of my favorites. Tobey does a decent job (and his big goopey smile when MJ first compliments his eyes sold me on him), though when he's asked to do anything other than look cute or like a small woodland creature, he's not very adept. Kirstin was annoying, but most comic book S.O.'s are, so they were staying pretty true to the original there. Jake_jr and I had a great time spotting the Shemps in this one, even at the wretched angle we were sitting in I could see Bruce Campbell's distinctive chin very easily. Missed Lucy Lawless until she was pointed out to me, and Ted Raimi appeared as yet another bumbling nerd getting barked at by Jameson. DaFoe seemed to be laughing all the way to the bank and pretty much phoning in his performance. Given what he had to work with, that's not such a bad thing. And the CGI was..well..CGI, and pretty obviously so. Worth seeing? Sure. But if you can hit a matinee I'd recommend it.

Sunday did not start with a newly washed car, but I content myself with the knowledge that it was the only area I failed in that day. I did get my grocery shopping done, I did track down a copy of Metropolis, I did invite some friends over to watch it (though h0h0 disappeared when I went out to get Chinese...), I did get to watch 60 Minutes for the first time in about a month, and I forced myself to watch XFiles despite my better judgment. So it turned into a fairly relaxing Sunday all things considered. Oh and I highly recommend Metropolis, though it would be better served on a bigger and more impressive entertainment system than I possess. It's absolutely stunning.

Guess that's it for now, I'm quite sure I had other things to say, possibly something relating to the humilliating defeat of the Sharks on Saturday, but I'm equally sure others have beaten me to the punch on that one. Fortunately I only saw a few minutes of the game, just enough to know that Nabby definitely needed a hug after that one.

Those were great pictures! I loved all of your costumes, particularly Angie's. That shade of blue was a really great color on her.

By the way, I think your stomach crunches are working - you looked great in your costume. ;)

Didn't Angie look terrific? And Megs was her usual gorgeous self too. We really should come up with more excuses to get all dressed up *G*

I agree--I wanna dress up more! I've gotta say, I love going to the gym, it makes me feel so much better about myself. Even with pounds and pounds to go, I'm happier, because I know I'm working at it. I know that definitely helped on Saturday, because that was the most fun I've ever had at a Peers ball.

Yay working out! I'm torn right now between begging you to drag me along to the gym the next time you go, and signing up for a third (yes, third) belly dancing course in Los Altos. If I can ever have calves like yours and a nice flat stomach I think I can be totally happy with my body.

Heh. I've been going solo most days, so meeting up with you would be no problem--I generally get to TuxTops around 5pm, grab the key, and am in the gym till close to 7. I'll be going tomorrow afternoon, and Thursday, at least, though I think it's too hard to make gym and hockey games, so I'm not sure about Wednesday.

And I've always had pretty strong calves, but it's dead easy to build muscle by lifting weights, and doing calf raises if you're just standing around also helps.

It's kind of surreal to have you envying any of my body parts, as I've always admired the shape you're in. ^_^ But thanks!

Well, I think that you looked fantastic in those pictures! I am really starting to see a difference from all the time you have been putting in at the gym. I could see more definition in your upper arms, and your face looked gorgeous. Congratulations!

Wow, thank you! I think I've lost about 10 pounds in the last couple of months (could be better, I know, but I'm not following a strict diet, just generally watching intake), but haven't been sure if it's visible or not. I keep wanting to think my face is a little thinner, but it's hard to tell when you look at it ever single day. ^_^;; But you've really made my day, thank you so much!

You are welcome. :) I hoped that I wasn't stepping out of line by commenting, but knew that when I was dieting it made me feel good when people commented on how I looked. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so even if you aren't seeing a big change on the scale yet you are still looking great. :)

Heh. I'm not sure anyone would be unhappy with a comment about weight loss, especially if they're actively working at it. I sure as hell appreciate it, as I'm often all too hard on myself, and yeah, since I'm just as interested in building muscle as losing fat, it's hard to tell if it actually shows, or what the scale really means when I weight myself. Thanks again!

Dressing up is always good. :) So is looking at the gorgeous photos, afterwards.

*beam* Thank you! I'm really really pleased with how the costume turned out, and it's all thanks to Megs. For a chance, I think I held my own in the looks department, and that was next to Ellie, so it's saying something. ^_~

I've got more pictures here, taken with my camera--mostly more of the same, but of course with the fab pictures of Ellie.

Angie, you blew me away in those photos, though I have to say there's one on my camera of the three of us where you're beaming, and I swear nobody would even notice Megs or I in the shot. You really have the most gorgeous smile, did you know that?

Awww. Thank you. This gave me a Peter-Parker-goopy style smile, I'll have you know.

Thai silks is evil. really really evil. :) it's also where all the fabric for my wedding dress and my bridesmaids dresses are coming from. ;)
